PM Work Locations

The View PM/Template Locations tool allows users to view preventative maintenance locations in ArcMap. This tool is effective for any pm/template that has an address or X/Y Coordinate (Location tab), or assets assigned to it (Asset tab). Once pm locations have been added to the map the tool also offers the ability to view and edit pm and view a pm report.

Note: The inventory feature classes do not need to be in the map prior to using this tool.

Click the button in the toolbar. The following pop-up will appear:
Select PM/Routine.
Click OK. The associated tool will appear.

Click on the View PM Locations tool . The associated tool will appear.
Note: This option will not work if there is already a PM layer in the map.
The tool allows users to filter down which PMs to display.

Note: This tool requires an address locater to be loaded in the map. If the active locater is a composite locater the following prompt will appear:
Choose a search option
- Date and Category(ies)- This option will search for all pms where the pm category is in the list specified and the next work order creation date is between the dates specified.
- Pm Filter- This option will search for all pms that meet the filter criteria specified.
- Pm Filter and Dates- This option will search for all pms that meet the criteria specified in the filter AND have a pm start date between the dates specified.
Depending on the option that is chosen the form will expand and display either a list of categories or a list of filters. Select the desired category or filter.
- To view work from one category only, expand the category tree on the right hand side and select a category. Selecting a category will only show pms assigned to that specific category, not all the categories beneath that category.
- To view all work categories check the All Categories checkbox.
  Note: If no category is selected, the system automatically queries all categories
- For filters, the default is to show My Filters Only. Un-check this to use any filter. In addition there are buttons to toggle between pm standard and pm lite filters.
Spatial Filter Option - This option allows users to specify a specific area to view pms in.
- None - All pms specified by the previous category/dates/filters will be displayed
- Use the Current Map extent - Will only show pms for the area that is currently visible in ArcMap
- Select Polygon Feature(s) - Allows users to select a polygon feature in the map. Only pms that are found within that polygon feature will be displayed
  Note: the tool actually plots all of the requests, and then clips the feature class down to the area specified by the spatial filter.
Modify default fields in the results option. By default there are certain fields that this tool will add to the results. Checking this box allows users to customize what fields are included in the results. The form will expand exposing the following items:
- Place a check next to the fields to add to the results.
- Fields that are automatically added by the tool are shown in the list to the far right. Users are unable to modify this list as these are required for the functionality of the tool.
- Users have the ability to save the custom field option by clicking the Save as new user default button. This setting is saved to the database, and these fields will automatically be checked the next time the user runs the tool.
When ready to process click Display. If there are a significant number of pms to process a dialog similar to this will appear:
Once the processing is finished a temporary feature class will be added to ArcMap containing three layers (point, line, and polygon). To change the way the features are displayed, right click on the layer and go to the symbology tab.
- The search criteria used for the pms is listed in the description for the group layer. To access this information, right-click on the grouped layer and select Properties.
The tool will attempt to map all locations for all pms that meet the selected criteria. Features that weren't able to be spatially represented will still be added to the layer, but will have a value of 0 in the FoundInMap field in the attribute table for the feature class.
After the work locations have been added to the map the cursor will change to crosshairs and you can then right-click on features to either view pms in the desktop application.



Search Option		Provides several ways for users to select a set of pms to display.
	Date and Category(ies)		Displays a set of pms in a date range based on the category selected on the pm.
	Work Request Filter		Displays all pms that are part of a saved PM filter.
	Work Request Filter and Dates		Displays all pms that are part of saved PM filter, and a selected Date range.
Category Options		This appears when the Date and Category(ies) option is selected above. It displays a list of categories to check and include.
Spatial Filter Options		This allows users to filter the results to a selected area.
	Use the current map extent		Reduces the results to only show pms that fall within the current visible area of the map.
	Select polygon feature(s)		Allows the user to select a polygon feature after clicking Display. The results are then filtered down to only display pms that fall within the selected polygon feature
Misc Options		These allow users to control the results in several other ways.
	Do not plot addresses for pms with assets...		This option causes the results to not plot the address of the pm if there is an associated asset. If this is turned off the pm will plot both.
	Do not plot addresses for work pm locations with X/Y Coordinates		This option causes the results to not plot the address of the pm if there is an X/Y coordinate set. If this is turned off the pm will plot both.
	Modify the default fields ...		The results produced by this tool will plot the location of different pms and will contain attribute information from the PM module in the Attribute table. Check this option to open another section of the tool to change which fields from the PM module show up in the Attribute table.
