Work Request Location

The View Work Request Locations tool allows users to view the locations of requests in ArcMap. They can either view static temporary layers made of requests filtered at the time the tool was run or they can display dynamic layers of requests that is constantly updated.

Once the work request locations have been added to the map the tool also offers the ability to view and edit work requests and view a work request report. This tool is effective for any request that has an address, an X/Y Coordinate or an assigned asset.

Note: The inventory feature classes do not need to be in the map prior to using this tool.

Click the button in the toolbar. The following pop-up will appear:
Select Requests.
Click OK. The associated tool will appear.

Click on the View Work Request Locations tool . The following pop-up will appear:
Select Requests.
Click OK. The associated tool will appear.
Note: This option will not work if there is already a request or request live layer in the map.
The tool allows users to filter down which requests to display.
Choose a search option
- Date and Category(ies)- This option will search for all requests where the category is in the list specified and the start date is between the dates specified.
- Work Request Filter- This option will search for all requests that meet the filter criteria specified.
- Work Request Filter and Dates- This option will search for all requests that meet the criteria specified in the filter AND have a request start date between the dates specified.
Depending on the chosen option the form will expand and display either a list of categories or a list of filters. Select the desired category or filter.
- To view work requests from one category only, expand the category tree on the right hand side and select a category. Selecting a category will only show requests assigned to that specific category, not all categories beneath that category.
- To show requests from all categories, check the All Categories checkbox.
  Note: If a category is not selected, the system automatically queries all categories
Spatial Filter Option - This option allows users to specify a specific area to view requests in.
- None - All requests specified by the previous category/dates/filters will be displayed
- Use the Current Map extent - Will only show requests for the area that is currently visible in ArcMap
- Select Polygon Feature(s) - allows users to select a polygon feature in the map. Only requests that are found within that polygon feature will be displayed
  Note: the tool actually plots all of the requests, and then clips the feature class down to the area specified by the spatial filter.
By default the Do not plot addresses for work request locations with X/Y Coordinates is checked. If the box is unchecked, then results will contain the points for both the request's address and xy coordinate, if that information is available.
Modify default fields in the results option. By default there are certain fields that this tool will add to the results. Checking this option will allow users to customize what fields are included in the results. The form will expand exposing the following items:
- Place a check next to the fields to have added to the results.
- Fields that are automatically added by the tool are shown in the list to the far right. Users are unable to modify this list as these are required for the functionality of the tool.
- Users have the ability to save the custom field option by clicking the Save as new user default button. This setting is saved to the database, and these fields will automatically be checked the next time the user runs the tool.
When ready to process click Display. If there are a significant number of work orders to process a dialog similar to this will appear:
The tool will attempt to map all work request locations for all work requests that meet the selected criteria. Features that weren't able to be spatially represented will still be added to the layer, but will have a value of 0 in the FoundInMap field in the attribute table for the feature class.
Once the processing is finished a temporary feature class will be added to ArcMap containing three layers (point, line, and polygon). To change the way the features are displayed, right click on the layer and go to Properties > Symbology tab.
- The search criteria used for the work requests is listed in the description for the group layer. To access this information, right-click on the grouped layer and select Properties. The screen will be similar to this.

After work requests have been plotted click on the View Request Locations tool .
While the View Request Locations tool is enabled, right-click on a work request location. A menu will appear with three options:
- View Work Request(s)
- Edit Work Request(s)
- View Work Request Report
Selecting the desired option will open a submenu that lists the work requests located within the search tolerance of the mouse-click.
- To perform an option on multiple work requests, use the ESRI selection tool to select the work requests prior to using the View Work Locations tool, then right-click and the For all selected Work Requests option will be added to the submenu list.
Select the work request from the list to perform the function
- View Work Requests: This option will open the selected work request(s) in the desktop in view mode.
- Edit Work Request(s): This will open the selected work request(s) in an editable grid within ArcMap. By default, all required fields are added to the grid. This includes both fields required by the desktop application and fields set required by users.
- View Work Request Report: This will open the Work Request Report that is provided as a default Lucity report. This tool will take a snapshot of the current ArcMap display and saves it as a .jpg which is used by the Work Request Report.

Click the button in the toolbar. The following pop-up will appear:
Select Requests.
Click OK. The associated tool will appear.

Click on the View Work Request Locations tool . The following pop-up will appear:
Select Requests.
Click OK. The associated tool will appear.
Note: This option will not work if there is already a request or request live layer in the map.
The tool allows users to filter down which requests to display.
Choose a filtering option
- Select an existing filter - This option allows the user to select a filter that was created and saved in the Request module.
- Specify advanced filter - This option allows the user to write a filter using SQL.
- No filter (load all records) - This option loads all request records that contain spatial data.
Depending on the chosen option the user should then
- Select a filter from the list of filters. To display only your filters check the My Filters Only box.
- Write a filter in the Manually enter WHERE clause box. Start this with WHERE...
Enable the time on the layers if desired and fill out the Time Step Interval.
By default the following options are checked.
- Do not plot addresses for records with assets - When a request contains an asset and the address the tool will only plot the asset. Otherwise it would plot both.
- Do not plot addresses for records with X/Y Coordinates - When a request contains an address and x/y coordinates the tool will only plot the x/y coordinates. Otherwise it would plot both.
By default there are certain fields that this tool will add to the results. Checking the Select which fields should included in the resulting layer(s) box will allow users to customize what fields are included in the results. The form will expand exposing the following items:
- Place a check next to the fields to have added to the results.
- Fields that are automatically added by the tool are shown in the list to the far right. Users are unable to modify this list as these are required for the functionality of the tool.
- Users have the ability to save the custom field option by clicking the Save as new user default button. This setting is saved to the database, and these fields will automatically be checked the next time the user runs the tool.
When ready to process click Display.

After work requests have been plotted click on the View Request Locations tool .

Search Option		Provides several ways for users to select a set of work requests to display.
	Date and Category(ies)		Displays a set of requests in a date range based on the category selected on the request.
	Work Request Filter		Displays all requests that are part of a saved Work Request filter.
	Work Request Filter and Dates		Displays all requests that are part of saved Work Request filter, and a selected Date range.
Category Options		This appears when the Date and Category(ies) option is selected above. It displays a list of categories to check and include.
Spatial Filter Options		This allows users to filter the results to a selected area.
	Use the current map extent		Reduces the results to only show requests that fall within the current visible area of the map.
	Select polygon feature(s)		Allows the user to select a polygon feature after clicking Display. The results are then filtered down to only display requests that fall within the selected polygon feature.
Misc Options		These allow users to control the results in several other ways.
	Do not plot addresses for requests with assets...		This option is currently disabled.
	Do not plot addresses for work request locations with X/Y Coordinates		This option causes the results to not plot the address of the request if there is an X/Y coordinate set. If this is turned off the request will plot both.
	Modify the default fields ...		The results produced by this tool will plot the location of different requests and will contain attribute information from the Request module in the Attribute table. Check this option to open another section of the tool to change which fields from the Request module show up in the Attribute table.



Select a filter option			Provides several ways for users to select a set of work requests to display.
	Select an existing filter			Allows users to select a filter that was previously created and saved in the Requests module.
	Specify advanced filter			Allows users to manually enter a filter using SQL.
	No filter (load all records)			Displays all requests that have spatial information.
Search Criteria		These fields allow users to select or add a filter depending on their previous selection
	Select a Filter			Displays all filters that were previously created and saved in the Requests module. Check the My Filters Only box to show only the filters created by the current user.
	Manually enter WHERE clause			Type in a filter for the request module using SQL. Start with WHERE....
Time Options		These allow users to enable time functions within the layer. This allows users to use the ESRI Time functions within ArcMap.
	Enable Time on Layers			This enables the time function for the request layers.
	Start Time Field End Time Field			These are the pre-configured fields that the time functions will use.
	Time Step Interval			Fill out the number of days/weeks/ months that the time functions should group the requests into. Note: This can be changed in the layer properties after the layer is created.
Misc Options		These allow users to control the results in several other ways.
	Do not plot addresses for requests with assets...			This option causes the results to not plot the address of the work request if there is an associated asset. If this is turned off the work request will plot both.
	Do not plot addresses for work request locations with X/Y Coordinates			This option causes the results to not plot the address of the request if there is an X/Y coordinate set. If this is turned off the request will plot both.
	Select which fields should be included in the resulting layer(s)			The results produced by this tool will plot the location of different requests and will contain attribute information from the Request module in the Attribute table. Check this option to open another section of the tool to change which fields from the Request module show up in the Attribute table.
	Alias name for layer			The name that will appear in the able of contents.
	Layer description			The description that will appear in the layer's properties.
