To search the map for a customer based on customer name, phone, address, or account number, you can click on the Customer Search Tool. The following dialog will appear:
There are two ways in which this tool functions:
It can either be pointed at a parcel or address feature class that contains all of the necessary data, or
It searches the Lucity customer database and displays results based on a geocoded centerline or parcel theme.
Prior to using this tool, it is required to have a geocoding service set up in LUCITY GISOptions and loaded into your project under Tools > Geocoding > Geocoding Service Manager. If it is not loaded, you will receive an error message telling you that it was not able to locate your geocoding service.
To use this tool to search for a customer by customer name, you can search by either or both first name and last name. If you do not know the full last name, or if it is a long last name, you can enter part of the last name and mark the "Allow Partial Matches" checkbox.
If you want to search by an address instead of a customer, leave the customer name and account number fields blank and type in any portion of the address. The format of the address fields follows the standard Lucity™ address format.
Once you click the "Find" button, a list of valid candidates is displayed in a dockable window. The Customer Search dialog remains displayed so that you can change your search criteria if the customer you are looking for is not found in the list.
Click on one of the results to view the address location in the map. If the system is able to locate your address, the map will zoom to the address and a large dot will be displayed at the address.
Work Orders and Requests can be created directly from your search results.
If the Customer Search tool is not returning results and the geocoding service has already been set up, you may need to set up an Address Locator for the Customer Search tool. For additional information, please reference the Address Locator Setup help guide.
