Installation Instructions

Install Order

• Server/Database
  • It is suggested to install/upgrade and run one Desktop at this point. This provides an easy way to check that the Lucity Server config folder is upgraded and available, and that the Databases upgraded properly.
• Services
  • All agencies should install the services. These perform calculations and provide important functionality to many parts of the Lucity system.
• Web
• Citizen Portal
• GIS Server Object Extension for ArcServer
• REST API
• Citizen Portal REST API
• Mobile Server
• Document Server
• Desktop (Must be installed on each machine that will be using Lucity)
• Mobile Desktop (This should only be performed on workstations (laptops, tablets) that will be taken out of the office.)

Note: Installation instructions may vary slightly depending on the database you are using (SQL Server or Oracle). We recommend that you close all Windows applications before installing the Lucity software suite.

Note: The Lucity Web products do not support WebGarden mode in IIS 6.0. This option is used to tie a separate IIS worker process to each CPU on the server, and each worker process has its own AppDomain. However, in WebGarden mode, there is no guarantee that each client will connect to the same App on the web server in the WebGarden, and each WebGarden has separate Session Variables. We rely on Session Variables to track the current state of the logged in user.

Note: The Web products are currently a 32 bit application and will be configured to run as 32 bit applications on Windows Server. For Windows Server 2003 users this means that all applications running on IIS on that same server must also run in 32 bit compatibility mode.
