The Browse tool allows users to quickly generate a report in a table format. They can then view this information, print it, and save the browse for others to use as well. The following examples are from the Customer module, however these same steps apply in other modules.
A tutorial movie is available for additional information on the browsefunction.
To access the Browse tool, click on the module toolbar, and the following screen will appear:
The top half of the screen is used to create or edit a browse. The bottom half of the screen is used to manage and run Browses.
To rename a browse report, select the browse in the bottom left part of the screen (circled in red below) and click and a dialog box will appear prompting for a new name. If the browse is renamed, the previous name will be deleted.
After saving a browse report, the report will appear in the lower left corner with the other saved browse reports. See the figure below.
Another option for defining a browse is to use an existing browse as a template. In the lower left corner of the Browse window there is a list of existing browse reports. This list identifies the browse name, whether or not this is a global browse (accessible to all users), and the browse author. Click on an existing browse and it will open in the upper right window allowing you to modify it.
Note: You can choose to view browses accessible to all users or only the browses created by you. Click the radio button by Show Mine or Show All to alter the display.
To remove fields from the browse, select the field to removed and click .
To remove all the fields from the browse, click .
To change the order of the browse fields, click and the Reorder Browse Fields window will appear. Select the field to move and drag it upward to the desired position.
To undo the new order, click .
To accept the new order, click .
Click Go to view the Browse right now or Save to save it for later.
A saved browse can be made accessible to all users by marking it as a Global Browse.
To make a browse global, right click on a browse name and select Enable Global Browse.
Note: By default, only administrators will be given access to this function; however, permission can be granted to other users. See the system administrator for details.
To the right of the Browse button there will see a downward arrow indicating a drop-down menu. This menu provides access to the Quick Browse feature. The Quick Browse feature allows users to view saved browse reports from within the module. A sample menu appears below:
The drop-down menu will include a list of all global browses and all browses saved by the user (based on their login). Users can display a browse report by clicking on a browse name. To access the main browse screen, click the Browse option.
Note: Users will not be able to access the Quick Browse function if no browses have been saved. In this situation, the drop-down menu will look like this:
Note: If Browse has been saved but don't see it in the list, close and reopen the module. It should now appear.
