Common Link 1
The unique identifier assigned by the user for this asset. The value for this field cannot be directly modified; it is automatically populated based on the field mappings from the field mappings grid at the bottom of the page. Every module has at least one field that defines the asset as unique. These fields are highlighted in green in the bottom grid. To enter a value in this field, find the green highlighted field in the grid and type in the field name into the Feature Class Field Name column for that item. This should be a character field in the geodatabase, not a numeric field.
Note: Certain feature classes, like storm conduits and sanitary pipes, may be set up to automatically populate this Common Link Field 1 value and users may not be required to manually enter data in this field while editing in ArcMap, but you still must define a field for this Common Link Field 1 in your geodatabase. For sewer pipes and storm conduits, we recommend using a field called UpstreamStructure.
Common Link 2
This is a secondary unique identifier assigned by the user for this asset type. This field is only used for a small selection of asset types including sewer pipes, sewer manholes, street subsegments, storm pumps, sanitary pumps, and water pumps. The value in this field cannot be directly modified. It is automatically populated based on the values entered into the green highlighted areas in the field mapping grid. This should be a character field in the geodatabase.
Note: Certain feature classes, like storm conduits and sanitary pipes, may be set up to automatically populate this Common Link Field 2 value and users may not be required to manually enter data in this field while editing in ArcMap, but you still must define a field for this Common Link Field 2 in your geodatabase. For sewer pipes and storm conduits, we recommend using a field called DownstreamStructure.
