Aliases are alternate names for feature classes that provide a unique identity. They are used by the Lucity Webmap, Lucity Viewer, and Lucity Mobile to identify which feature classes are linked to Lucity. These Lucity mapping applications check the feature classes loaded into them and check the display names of those feature classes against the Aliases listed in the Geodatabase Configuration.
Aliases can be setup in a few different ways. This tool is designed to update the geodatabase configuration with the default alias names for the geodatabase connection as listed in ArcCatalog. This tool can be run against a single feature class, or the entire geodatabase.
Aliases can be created in the Lucity Geodatabase Configuration tool. This is done using the Feature Class Schema > Set feature class alias equal to Lucity module name tool. This will update all the feature classes linked to Lucity and set their alias names to the Lucity module name.
