Is Feature Valid?

The "Is Feature Valid?" tool will provide a list of invalid features in the map.  This tool performs two validations against the features:

  1. Is the feature's required field(s) populated?
  2. Is the feature's common ID unique?

To check for invalid features:

  1. In ArcMap, start an edit session.
  2. Using the ESRI selection tool, select the feature(s) you wish to validate.

Note: You can Select features from more than one feature class.

    Selected Features

  3. Select Editing Tools > Is Feature Valid? from the Lucity GIS Edit toolbar.

  4. The following dialog will appear showing the results of the validation.

Note: The tool may take a few minutes to perform the validation depending on the number of features you had selected.

The results will list all invalid features. Features are identified by their OBJECTID value.  The results will indicate why the feature is invalid and also list the required and unique fields.

  5. You can then Print this errors list to help you make the necessary changes.
  6. You will be prompted if no invalid features are found.

Important: If you use the Lucity Autonumber function, you must save your edits when adding new features before running the "Is Feature Valid?" tool.  Otherwise, those features will be listed as invalid.
