Within each frame, the user can set up individual data drills. A data drill displays raw data from a filter in the form of a tree view. Each filter provides access to one or more Lucity modules. This allows the Dashboard to be Work Order based, Service Request based, as well as Asset based. Follow the steps below to add data drills to the Frame:
The label you entered on the "Add Plugins" dialog will be carried over to the Label field. You can edit it if needed. This label will be displayed on the Dashboard page.
You'll need to add a filter string for the data drill. Filters define the content of the root data displayed in the plugin. Click the Acquire button to add a filter to the data drill. For additional information, consult the Acquiring Filters topic.
You can add multiple drill-downs under each filter. These will appear as sub-items under the original filter on the Dashboard frame. This feature provides you with a way to sort the data as it appears on the page.
Click the Add button beside the Drill Downs list. The following dialog will appear:
From the first drop down list, select the database table that the drilled-down data will come from. Only the tables that are listed in the filter will appear in the database table drop down.
From the second drop down list, select the column name by which the data will be sorted. You can select any column available in the selected database.
In the example above, the filter displays work orders from selected categories and uses drill-downs from a single table. The first selected drill-down will display work orders sorted by Account Number. The second selected drill-down will display work orders sorted by Category Code. For a sample filter using drill-downs from two separate tables, follow this link.
For each data drill, you can choose whether you'd like it to launch your desktop software or open one of your custom web forms.
To launch a custom web form, select the "Use Web Form" checkbox and select a form name from the drop down list. For information on creating custom web forms, consult the Forms topics.
If you do not select this checkbox, the filter will launch your desktop software. When you click on a filter item, the desktop application will be opened up directly to the specific filterset indicated.
Click OK when you are ready to accept your data drill settings.
