Map Services Configuration

Once feature class aliases are established and imported into the geodatabase configuration, an agency must publish the maps it wishes to use. The Lucity Web Map and the Lucity Mobile application support both .mxd, and .msp map services. After the services are published, an administrator must configure Lucity to use the services.

How To Configure a Map Service

  1. Collect map service information.

    For Arc 10

    For Arc 10.x

  2. Open the Lucity Administration Tool and navigate to GIS > Map Services.

    GIS Map Service

    1. Click Add Map Service...
    2. Enter the Name of the map service. This name is used to identify the service when it is added to a Lucity map, or viewed in one of the Lucity mapping products.
    3. In the URL field, enter the REST URL for the map service.
    4. In the Order field, enter a value to indicate the order in which the service should appear in relation to other layers. (Map services are layered based on this field. A lower number is a lower layer. Zero is the bottom layer.)

Note: Lucity Mobile and Mobile Work Maps only query data out of the top-most layer. Therefore, make sure that the layer that contains Lucity assets has the highest number in the Order field.

    5. Check the Base Map? box if this layer is used as a base map.
    6. Check the Tiled? box if this layer is a tiled service.
    7. Complete other fields as desired.
    8. Click Save.
    9. Click Test if the map service contains Lucity features. The system will display a list of all feature classes that the map recognizes as being connected to Lucity.
  3. After Steps 1 and 2 have been completed for all map services, go to the Lucity Administration Tool, and navigate to System > Settings > GIS Web tab.
    1. In the Operational Data Spatial Reference WKID field, enter the Spatial Reference number. [This topic was covered in Step 1.h (for Arc 10 setup) or Step 1.g (for Arc 10.x).]
      • The WKID that is used here must be the the WKID that the operational data is referenced against. Lucity uses this spatial reference to record x-y coordinates and any other spatial data.
    2. In the URL for Geocoding Service... field, provide the URL for what will be the default geocoding service used by the Web Map or Lucity Mobile application.
      • This URL can be identified using the same method used to identify it for map services in Step 1. Be sure to include the rest/ before the word services in the URL.
    3. Lucity strongly suggests that agencies use a geometry service. If an agency has a geometry service, it should provide the address in the URL for Geometry Service field. Be sure to include the rest/ before the word services in the URL.
    4. Click Save.
