Before you begin using the LiveData tool, you'll need to decide whether you will be using a Personal Geodatabase or ArcSDE. We realize that there are advantages and disadvantages to both of these types of projects.
Note: It is possible to start in a personal geodatabase an later move to an ArcSDE database. You'll just need to import the feature classes from the personal geodatabase into your ArcSDE database using ESRI's import tools in ArcCatalog or ArcToolbox.
This tool is only supported for SQL Server 2005+ or Oracle. It will also work on SQL Server 2008 once we start officially supporting SQL Server 2008.
Note: If you are using a Personal Geodatabase, one should be created for this purpose alone. The LiveData tool does not need to reside in the same geodatabase as everything else (Work module and Lucity GIS) in order to run.
