Dashboards

The Add/Edit Dashboard dialog is used to add/edit/manage dashboard tabs that appear on the selected user dashboard or template. Users can also use the Links tool to manage web site links that they wish to appear on the dashboard.

Settings

Dashboard Tabs

This grid displays all of the tabs assigned to this dashboard. The names of Shared tabs are italicized.

Add

Adds a new Dashboard Tab record to the grid on the left side of the dialog box.

Edit

Edits the selected Dashboard Tab record.

Delete/Remove Tab

Deletes the selected Dashboard Tab record. If the tab is a shared tab, the button will read Remove Tab. This is because Shared Tab records cannot be deleted or edited by the user. A user can only remove a Shared Tab from his or her individual dashboard; the record itself remains in the system.

Share Tab

Marks the selected Dashboard Tab record as a Shared Tab. Once a tab is shared, the user can no longer edit it in his or her dashboard. It must be edited using the Manage Shared Tabs tool.

Users must have the Manage Dashboard Templates permission.

Copy Tab

Enables a user to create a copy of a on their dashboard. If the tab is a shared tab the copy will not be shared. This means that it will not be updated when the original shared tab is updated, but the user will be able to edit the copy on their dashboard.

Preview All

Provides a preview of the Dashboard and its tabs.

Moves the selected tab up one space in the grid. The order of tabs in the grid is the order they will appear in the web.

Moves the selected tab down one space in the grid.

Links

This grid displays a list of links that appear in the Web under the Links button.

Add

Adds a new Link record to the grid on the left.

Edit

Edits the selected link.

Delete

Deletes the selected link.

Moves the selected link up one space in the grid. The order of links in this grid dictates the order they appear in the Dashboard.

Moves the selected link down one space in the grid.

Dashboard tools

Apply Template

Enables users to select a Template to apply to this dashboard/template.

Save

Saves all edits.

Cancel

Cancels all edits made.

To add a Tab, click the Add button or select a Tab on the left and click Edit. The following window appears:
Enter a Name. This field is required and represents the text that will be displayed in the dashboard.
Complete other desired information, and add the desired frames.
Click OK to close the window.

Select the Tab to share with other users. The following window appears to warn the user that, after a tab is shared, it cannot be edited from the user's Dashboard set up:
Click OK to share the tab.
The tab will become a shared tab. This means that it can be controlled from the Manage Shared Tabs screen but can no longer be edited on user's individual dashboards.

Click the Add button or select a Link on the left and click Edit. The following window appears:
Enter a name for the Link in the Display Text field.
Enter the full URL. Absolute and relative paths are accepted (e.g., an absolute path: http://www.Lucity.com/). You can also include mailto links, which let users send email directly from Lucity Web (e.g., mailto:help@lucity.com).
Click OK to close the record. The Links are added to the drop-down list in the Dashboard toolbar. A sample of aLinks list as it appears on the Dashboard is shown below:

To apply an existing Template to the user's Dashboard, click the Apply Template button. The following dialog box appears:
Select an Available Template from the drop-down list and click Apply. The template's views, including frames and plug-ins, now appear on the user's Dashboard.
