The Hydrants tab contains three grids to record the hydrants, valves, and pipes that are part of the flushing route.
Hydrant grid
This grid shows a list of water hydrantsto be flushed and information about the order in which they should be flushed.
A sample of the Hydrants grid appears below. Sort records in the grid by clicking on the headings. An up or down arrow (highlighted in orange below) indicates whether data appear in ascending or descending order.
The record selected in this grid dictates which records appear in the Valves to Open or Close for Hydrant and Pipes Cleaned Based on Flushing of Hydrant grids.
Right-click in the grid to add a record.
Right-click on an existing record for options to View Record, Add Record, Edit Record, Delete Record, Create Subset, Load Subset, and:
View Hydrant in Map - Opens a mapping program and highlights the selected feature.
Insert Hydrant Above - Lets users select a hydrant and add it to the list. The new Hydrant is added above the Hydrant selected in the list.
Double-click on an existing record to open it.
Reorder arrow buttons appear at the bottom of the grid. Select an item in the grid and use the up or down arrow to change its position in the list.
Right-click in the Hydrant record and select Add Hydrant Above. The following pop-up appears:
This pick-list only shows records in which the hydrant's Pressure Zone matches the water flushing route's Pressure Zone.
Select a Hydrant from the list and click Select. The Hydrant record is inserted into the grid above the selected record.
Valves To Open or Close for Hydrant Flush Grid
This Valves to Open or Close for Hydrant Flush grid shows a list of water valves to be opened or closed for each hydrant, as well as other information related to the flushing.
A sample of the Valves to Open or Close for Hydrant Flush grid appears below. Sort records in the grid by clicking on the headings. An up or down arrow (highlighted in orange below) indicates whether data appear in ascending or descending order.
The record selected in the Hydrant grid controls the records that appear in the Valves to Open or Close for Hydrant Flush grid.
Right-click in the grid to add a record.
Double-click on an existing record to open it.
Right-click on an existing record for options to View Record, Add Record, Edit Record, Delete Record, Create Subset, Load Subset, and:
View Valve Inventory Record - Opens the Valve module to the selected Valve's record.
View Valve in Map - Opens a mapping program and highlights the selected feature.
Open Closed Valve - This tool is used to conclude the flush by making sure all of the valves that were closed during the flush are re-opened. The tool identifies all of the valves attached to hydrants in the flush route that were to be closed during the flush, adds them to the Valves grid, and marks the Set Valve To field as Open. This tool is typically run when the last record in the Hydrant grid is selected.
Change Hydrant Sequence Number - Changes which hydrant the valve is associated to for the flush.
In the Hydrants grid, select the hydrant with which you'd like to associate the valve.
Right-click in the Valves to Open or Close for Hydrant Flush grid and select Add Record. The following pop-up appears:
Enter a Valve Number. Click the field caption button or press F9 for list of System Valves records.
This pick-list only shows records in which the valve's Pressure Zone matches the water flushing route's Pressure Zone and the valve is marked as an Isolation Valve.
This action is not required; however, this tool is helpful in making sure all closed valves are opened after the flushing is complete.
Select the last Hydrant in the Hydrant grid.
Right-click in the Valve grid and select Open Closed Valves. The tool searches through all of the Valves that are linked to Hydrants on the Flushing Route and selects those in which the Set Valve To field is set to Closed. The system then adds these Valves to the Valves to Open or Close for Hydrant Flush grid.
If one of these valves should remain closed, the user can manually delete it from the grid.
Select one or more Valves that you want to move from that hydrant to another.
Right-click on one of the selected Valves and select How To Change a Hydrant Sequence Number. The following pop-up appears:
Enter the Sequence Number for the hydrant to which the valves should be attached. This number is found in the first column in the Hydrant grid.
Press Enter. The record in the Valve to Open or Close for Hydrant Flush grid is now associated with the record in the Hydrants grid.
Pipes Cleaned Based on Flushing of Hydrant
The Pipes Cleaned Based on Flushing of Hydrant grid shows a list of water pipes that are attached to the hydrants and valves.
A sample of the Pipes Cleaned Based on Flushing of Hydrant grid appears below. Sort records in the grid by clicking on the headings. An up or down arrow (highlighted in orange below) indicates whether data appear in ascending or descending order.
