Data Drills

Data Drills filter a module for data then display and group the data based on different attributes. Data drills can be created against Work Orders, Work Requests, and Asset modules. Each data drill can contain an unlimited number of drill downs.

Click on an Inventory name or Record name to open the related record(s). Where this is opened is controlled by the buttons at the top right of the Frame.
- Clicking on Open Work will open a view of all 385 work orders; while clicking on Park Field will open a view of those two.

This example is showing a data drill of Open Work Orders with a category including park. They are grouped by the Category and then by number.

Data Drill Options

Label

This is the name that will appear at the first node of the Data Drill. This is carried over from the Plugin Name entered when the plugin was created.

Filter

This displays the base filter of the data drill. For example it might be a filter for all open work orders. This can then be broken down by task, or supervisor, etc... using the drill downs below. This filter must include all table names that need to be accessed by the drill downs.

Acquire

This button allows users to modify the base Filter.

Drill Downs

Drill downs take the base filter and break it down into smaller parts. For example, the base drill down is all open work orders. The first drill down is supervisor, the second drill down is Main Task. The data drill will have a node with all open work orders. When that is expanded all the supervisors will be listed with their work grouped under them. When a supervisor is expanded their work will be listed grouped by task.

Add

Click this to add a drill down to the list to the left.

Edit

Edits the drill down currently selected to the left

Delete

Deletes the drill down currently selected to the left

Moves the selected drill down record up one space in the grid. The order of drill downs in the grid is the order the drill downs will occur as part of the data drill.

Opening Options

Use Web Forms

When users click on any part of the drill down Lucity will try to open to the related module and display those records. By default these modules are opened in Lucity Desktop. Check this box and select a related web form to open these links in Lucity Web. Note: For information on creating custom web forms, consult the Forms topics.

On a Frame record click the Add button.
The Add Plugin window will appear:
For the Select Plugin Type field, select the Data Drill option.
Enter a name for the plugin and click OK.
The Add Data Drill window will appear:
Use the Acquire button to modify the base filter for the data drill.
- This filter must include all table names that need to be accessed by the drill downs.
Add drill downs into the Drill Downs grid and put them in the desired order.
If desired mark the Use Web Form field and select a web form from the list.
Click OK to accept the report settings.

Data Drills can use more than one table.

Click the Acquire button.

Below is an example of a filter with two database tables.
- This filter uses both the WKORDER and WKWOTSK tables.
- Now, in the Drill Down dialog, the drill dropdown lists will contain all tables included in the filter string.
- In this example, the dropdown lists contain both the WKWOTSK and WKORDER tables.

Click the Add button next to the Drill Downs grid or select a drill down from the grid and click Edit.
The drill down dialog will appear:
Select a database table name from the Table Name list.
- Only table names that were included in the base filter of the Data Drill will be available in this list.
Select a column (field name) in the Column Name list. This is the column that the data will be sorted and grouped by. Any column in the selected table will be selectable.
Click OK to confirm changes.
