The Time Cost Rates defined in the Time Cost Setup module are used to establish unit costs for resources in Work Orders. The various standard time cost rates are discussed in the table below. For further information on establishing unit costs in Work Orders, please reference the Standard WO help guide for Tasks and Resources.
Note: If rates for regular time, overtime, external regular time, or external overtime are defined in the Work Flow Setup, Employee module, those rates will be used instead of the time codes and rates defined in this module. In that situation, the resource cost in work orders will be calculated as the number of hours worked x the rate defined in the Employee module.
Time Cost Rate |
Definition and Calculations |
Regular Time |
The regular time rate is given the default time cost code and multiplier of 1. In work orders, the resource cost for regular time is calculated using the employee's hourly rate * the number of hours worked. Note: While this time cost description can be edited, the desktop application will always assume a time code of "1" is "Regular Time", and will use it for the default time code as well as the Normal employee rate. |
Overtime |
The overtime rate is given the default time cost code of 2, and default multiplier of 1.5. In work orders, the resource cost for overtime is calculated using the employee's hourly rate * the number of hours work * the multiplier of 1.5. If you do not use the standard 1.5 multiplier for your overtime rate, you can define a new overtime multiplier using a different time code or define a straight time unit. Note: While this time cost description can be edited, the desktop application will always assume a time code of "2" is "Overtime", and will use the calculation described above as well as use it to get any special overtime rate assigned in the Employee module. |
External Regular Time |
For external regular time, a time code of 11 must be selected. In work orders, the resource cost for external regular time is calculated using the time cost code of 11 and the employee's standard hourly rate. Note: Any Time Code text containing the phrase "External Regular Time" will be used to get any special rate in the "Reg External Rate" field in the Employee module. It is not case sensitive. |
External Overtime |
For external overtime, a time code of 21 must be selected. In work orders, the resource cost for external overtime is calculated using the time cost code of 21 and the employee's standard hourly rate. Note: Any Time Code text containing the phrase "External Overtime" will be used to get any special rate in the "OT External Rate" field in the Employee module. It is not case sensitive. |
All Other Time |
This module can be used to create other time costs as needed by defining straight time or multiplier rates. |
