Work Order Routing

The Work Order Routing tool takes a set of work orders from a work order filter and locates them in the map. It then uses a GIS routing service to find the shortest route between the work orders. This helps work crews to more efficiently plan their work for the day.

Before using this tool users must have a work order filter setup that contains the work orders they want to route.

The Routing tab allows users to select a work filter, narrow down the records to route, and then start the routing process

The Options tab allows users to change the properties of the routing output. These are the following options

Click the Work Order Routing button. The following screen will appear.
In the top list select a filter.
Note: Check My Filters Only to display only the filters for the current user.
After a filter is selected the Data in the Filter list (at the bottom) will show which work Orders are part of the selected filter.
To route all records make sure the Route All button is checked (at the bottom).
To route a smaller set of records select the desired records in the Data in the Filter list. Mark the Route Selected button (at the bottom).
Make any desired changes on the Options tab.
Click OK.
The routing service will create a route based on the provided information.
Two layers will be added to the Map Layers tool. One for the route and one for the stops.
The route will look something like this:
The points along the route will be numbers, and have a label with the associated work order number.

To use the driving directions function mark the Display Driving Directions box on the Options tab before creating the route.
Once the route is created a popup will appear in the map window:
Click on a step in the driving direction to zoom to that step.
If it is a stop, it will highlight the stop and zoom to it.
If it is a section of driving it will zoom to it and highlight he route with a white dashed line. This line will move in the direction of the route for a few moments.


One Route Multiple Routes By:	This option allows the user to create one route for all the selected work orders, or to create multiple routes based on Supervisor, Lead Worker, or Crew. This would allow them to quickly create several routes at once.
Display Driving Directions	Check this box to include driving directions with the map.
Use the Assets Use the Address and X/Y	Work orders can use both assets and address/xy information to provide a location. Use this field to tell the program which type of information to use for the location when a work order has both available.
Vehicle Starting Location	By default the work order route will start at the location of the first work order, or at an address specified by the system admin. Enter an address in this field to start the route at an alternate location.
