The first layer of configuration directly affects how the geodatabase as a whole links to Lucity. This includes things like the geodatabase connection string, Geodatabase versioning (for ArcSDE geodatabases), Replica Geodatabases etc. This layer of configuration also contains tools that are designed to quickly setup a general configuration between geodatabase feature classes and Lucity.
This is the connection string that is entered into the Lucity Administration tool. These properties are used when Lucity is attempting to update the geodatabase, or when the Lucity GIS extensions are trying to check and see if a feature class is linked to Lucity.
ArcSDE databases allow agencies to split their geodatabases into different versions which provides the a greater ability to assure the integrity of the data entered into the geodatabase. In the Lucity Geodatabase connection string administrators can select a version. This version is updated when edits are made in Lucity. The Version Setup tab provides the ability to specify which SDE versions will update the Lucity databases when they are edited in ArcMap.
Some GIS departments create a replica version of their geodatabase to provide a read-only geodatabase to the majority of their users. Within the geodatabase configuration there are tools to help quickly configure a replica geodatabase with Lucity based on the parent geodatabase's configuration.
