To create a supersegment, complete the following steps:
Use the Create Supersegments tool to select the subsegments you want to include in your supersegment. You can do this by dragging a box or by individually selecting features while holding your SHIFT key.
To un-select a feature, click on the segment again while holding down your SHIFT key and it will be removed from selection.
When you have all of the segments you are interested in, right click over one of the selected segments and select the "Define as Supersegment" option displayed.
You will be prompted for a unique identifier for this supersegment. If you are creating supersegments to integrate with another pavement management program, this number should be your unique identifier from your other system.
If you selected a subsegment that was already attached to a different supersegment, you will receive a prompt asking you whether or not you want to remove the subsegment from the old supersegment in order to add it to the new supersegment. If you choose "Yes", it will be removed from the old supersegment record and will become part of the new supersegment record. If you choose "No", it will not be removed from the old supersegment record and it will not be added to your new supersegment.
When the process is finished, you will be prompted that the supersegment has been created.
Important: Do not manually create supersegments using the ArcGIS editor tools; always use this tool to draw supersegments.
