The Split Subsegment tool allows you to split street segments into subsegments. For information on the advantages and use of subsegments, see the Street module documentation in the Lucity general help guide.
To split a subsegment, complete the following steps:
Make the split subsegment tool active and click on a subsegment in the map. A diagram on the subsegment with the "A" marker, the "B" marker, and the split marker will be displayed.
A dockable window will also be displayed identifying where the subsegment will be split.
By default the split marker is set at the midpoint of the subsegment. If you want to move the split point, you can either drag and drop the red "X" with your mouse, or you can change the values in the split distances on the dockable window.
If you drag and drop the "X", the split distances in the dockable window will automatically be updated. If you manually change the split distances in the dockable window, the "X" will be moved when you tab out of the split distance cell.
When you have the red "X" arranged at the point you want to split the subsegment, click the "Split" button on the dockable window. When the split is completed you will receive the following message:
Notes: It is very important that you use this split tool to split subsegments; do not manually split subsegments with the ArcGIS edit tools. For the current software version, you should also not split subsegments in Lucity™. Perform all of your subsegment actions with these subsegment tools. It is okay to change subsegment attributes like width and material through the ArcGIS editor.
