Add a Layer to the Predefined Layer List

In ArcCatalog, system administrators can easily add a layer to the predefined layer list.

There is no limit to how many layers can be added; however, keep in mind that the layer name must be unique.  For example, the predefined layer list can only contain one layer named “Sewer Line”.

  1. Make sure that the Lucity GIS toolbar is loaded and select the layer you want to add in ArcCatalog.  When selecting from the tree view in ArcCatalog you will only be able to add one layer at a time.

  3. Once you have selected all of the layers you want to add, select Lucity Predefined Layer > Define Lucity Layer from the Lucity GIS toolbar.

  4. The selected layers will be added to the predefined layer list.  If a selected layer name already exists in the predefined layer list then the following message will appear.

In this example by clicking Yes you will be removing the existing “Sewer Pipe” layer from the predefined layer list and the selected layer will be added.  By clicking No, the existing “Sewer Pipe” layer will not be removed from the predefined layer list, and the selected layer will not be added.

  5. When completed, a dialog will appear showing which selected layers were added to the predefined layer list and which were not.
