Data Drills

Data Drills filter a module for data and then display and group the data based on different attributes. Data drills can be created against Work Orders, Work Requests, and Asset modules. Each data drill can contain an unlimited number of drill-downs.

The number in parentheses is a count of records.
Click an arrow to expand or collapse a level of data.
Click on an Inventory name or record name to open the related record(s). Buttons at the top-right of the frame control which Lucity system (Desktop or Web) opens the record(s).
- Example: Clicking on Open Work opens a view of all 385 Work Orders. Clicking on Park Field opens a view of those two records.

Example

This example shows a data drill of Open Work Orders with a Category that includes "park." The records are grouped by the Category and then by quantity.

The Work Order module displays 385 records in the filterset.

Data Drill Options

Label

Indicates the name that appears at the first node of the Data Drill. This text is carried over from the Plugin Name entered when the plug-in was created.

Filter

Displays the base filter of the data drill. For example, the filter might display all open Work Orders. The filterset can then be broken down by Task, Supervisor, etc., using the drill-downs below. This base filter must include all table names that will be accessed by the drill-downs.

Acquire

Allows users to modify the base Filter.

Drill-Downs

Drill-downs take the base filter and break it down into smaller parts.

For example, the base filter displays all open Work Orders. The first drill-down organizes open work orders by Supervisor; the second drill-down then groups them by Main Task.

According to these parameters, the data drill includes a node with all open Work Orders. When the node is expanded, all of the supervisors are listed with their work grouped under them. When a supervisor is expanded, their work is listed grouped by task.

Add

Adds a drill-down to the list at left.

Edit

Allows the user to modify the drill-down selected in the list at left.

Delete

Deletes the drill-down selected at left.

Moves the selected drill-down record up one space in the grid. The order of the drill-downs in the grid reflects the order they occur in the data drill.

Opening Options

Use Web Forms

Indicates a preference to open records in Lucity Web, rather than Lucity Desktop.

When users click on any part of the drill-down, Lucity opens the related module and displays those records. By default, these modules are opened in Lucity Desktop. Check this box and select a related web form if you prefer to open these links in Lucity Web.

On a Frame record, click the Add button.
The Add Plugin dialog appears:
In the Select Plugin Type field, select Data Drill.
Enter a Name for the plugin and click OK.
The Add Data Drill dialog appears:
Use the Acquire button to modify the base filter for the Data Drill.
- This filter must include all table names that will be accessed by the drill-downs.
Add drill-downs into the Drill Downs grid and put them in the desired order.
If desired, mark the Use Web View field and select a web Form from the list.
Click OK to accept the plug-in settings.

Data Drills can incorporate data from more than one table.

Click the Acquire button.

- Below is an example of a filter with two database tables: WKORDER and WKWOTSK.
- Using this setup, the Add Drill Down selection lists will contain all tables included in the filter string.
- In this example, the drop-down lists contain both the WKWOTSK and WKORDER tables.

Click the Add button next to the Drill Downs grid or select a Drill-Down from the grid and click Edit.
The Add Drill Down dialog appears:
Select a database Table Name from the list.
- Only Table Names included in the base filter of the Data Drill are displayed in this list.
Select a Column Name from the list to indicate the column by which the data will be sorted and grouped. Any column in the selected table can be chosen.
Click OK to confirm changes.
