Floating Schedule (Meter Readings and Dates)

PM/Work Templates can be set up on various schedules.  This is one of the scheduling structures.  PM/Work Templates are scheduled in the WO Scheduling Tab for individual PMs.  For grouped PMs, these schedules are set up in the Grouped PMs tab.

You may want to schedule a vehicle to have the oil changed every 3,000 miles or every 3 months (whichever comes first).  In this case, you would want to base your PM schedule on the both the last end date and the meter readings.  By setting up your PM schedule in this manner, you are telling the system to generate a PM work order based on whichever comes first: the mileage or the date.

Note: If you are scheduling a PM template based on meter readings, you should only associate one piece of fleet or equipment per record.

Complete the following steps to set up a floating schedule based on meter readings and the last end date:

1. Enter an end date in the End Date field (highlighted in blue below). 

   Note: This field will be automatically updated with the work order's end date once the work order is completed.

   

2. Select the time interval at which the PM will be generated (highlighted in blue below).  In other words, select the time lapse between each work order generation.
3. Click in the Next Date field and the date will automatically be populated based on the end date and the selected interval, or you can manually enter a date (highlighted in pink below).

   Note: The Next Date field must be vacant before it can be automatically populated.

   

4. Enter the meter reading interval at which the PM will be generated (highlighted in blue below).
5. Enter the projected mileage (or meter reading) at the time the PM will be generated (highlighted in pink below).

   

6. The first field will be populated automatically with the most recent mileage (or meter reading) from the inventory or fueling record.

   Note: You can also enter a current meter reading manually.

7. Once the PM work order is generated, the status will automatically read "2 = WO Generated" and the WO number and date initiated fields will be populated.

   Note: Only one open work order per PM is allowed at a time. You must close the work order before the next PM can be generated.

8. Each time a PM work order is closed, the PM schedule resets itself.  Once a PM is reset, the status will automatically update to read "1 = Awaiting WO Generation" until that work order is generated.
