This tab allows you to record basic data on your signal heads such as position, direction of approach, manufacturer, mounting information, visibility, and total cost. You can also record information on maps, drawings, coordinates, and elevations to further locate your assets. Keep in mind that you are not required to record GPS coordinate data in these fields, particularly if you use a geodatabase to maintain this information. These fields are only provided for your convenience.
Additionally, this module features some fields with linked data. You can associate your signal heads with street segments, street intersections, poles, mast arms, and controllers already defined in the system. By selecting a Pole Record No., Mast Arm Record No., and/or Controller Record No. the corresponding Alternate ID fields will be filled automatically by the system. The data on segments and intersections is stored in the Street modules. The data on poles and mast arms is stored in the Components modules. This information is linked with all traffic systems. The controller data comes from the Controller Inventory module. By using these linked fields, you can track relationships among your assets.
Note: Since the data in these fields comes from already defined modules, you cannot enter values that do not already exist. You may enter a number by using one of the following three methods:

Ref Post |
Reference Posts are generally recorded in miles and are also known as Mile Markers. These posts typically do not move when a portion of the road is contracted or expanded. The reference post will be displayed in the corresponding Roads record. |
Org. Station |
This field is provided to identify the original stationing point and is generally recorded in feet. Stationing does not necessarily reflect the location of the Reference Post. This is a numeric field designed for linear referencing. |
Curr Station |
This read-only field is used by the system to reflect changes from the original stationing point. Changes are recorded in the associated Roads record when a road is contracted or expanded. If changes have been made and are not yet reflected in these fields, you may need to run the "Update Stationing" Toolkit function in the Roads module. Follow the link for additional information. |
