Locations

The Warehouse module displays the Locations of divisions within the warehouse where the parts reside.

If more than one location exists within a warehouse, you can specify which location is the Default Location for the warehouse. This functionality is especially useful for mobile warehouses that are integrated with the Work program. If a Default Location is selected, the system knows exactly where to pull the inventory from when a Work Order is created.

Locations Grid

The Warehouse Inventory > Warehouses > Locations grid displays all of the locations within a warehouse and the quantity of parts that are present.

Location Record Fields

Loc ID **

Specifies the user-defined ID for the location.

Loc Rec #

Displays the system-generated, unique ID for the record.

Location Desc.

Provides a brief description of the warehouse location.

Default Location

Determines which location to draw the part from.

Users can set this option through the Warehouse module through the following methods:

  • If the warehouse has only one location, the system will automatically mark this record as Default.
  • The default location can be changed by using the Set as Default toolkit in this grid.

A Default Location will operate differently depending on settings in Work Options > Parts:

  • If the Always use Parts Default Location option is turned on, parts pulled from the warehouse are pulled from the default location's inventory first even if the Default Location becomes negative.
  • If Force disbursal from mobile warehouses option is also turned on, the system will see if the part exists in the mobile warehouse first. If the part that is being used on a Work Order exists at more than one location at that rolling warehouse, the default checkbox determines which location to draw the part from.

Loc Barcode

Provides the alpha-numeric string barcode that identifies a part that is stored in a warehouse.
