Default Work Category

The primary field on a Work Order is the Category. The Category that the user selects defines what options are available in other Work Order pick-list fields, such as Problem, Main Task, Supervisor, etc. It also dictates which module serves as the default source for Work Order Assets. Therefore, a user must select a Category when creating a Work Order.

However, when users create Work Orders directly from an Asset Inventory or Inspection record, Lucity populates the Category with the asset's Default WO Category. This streamlines the process of creating a Work Order and, because a Category value is required, allows the system to save the new Work Order record.
