System Assembly Components

The Work Program's System Assembly Components module enables administrators to classify the different components of a complex system that may be referenced on a Work Order.

For example, if the Work Order Asset was a vehicle, an agency could use the System Assembly Components module to identify the vehicle's major Systems, such as the exhaust system, transmission system, engine cooling system, etc. These Systems can then be broken down into Assemblies and Components.

Having this sort of detail enables supervisors to define exactly which part of an asset requires work without creating overly specific Work Tasks.

Note: Effective 19r2, users can enter a System without an Assembly or Component. Users can also enter a System with an Assembly only; however, entering a Component requires an Assembly.

The following instructions explain how to populate the System Assembly Component picklists using a Lucity form. This, however, is a very time-consuming process. Lucity recommends that administrators instead create comma-delimited files of agency systems, assemblies and components and their relationships. Such files can then be imported into the module using Lucity's Import and Update tool.

Open the Work > Administration > System Assembly Component module.
Click the button. The Component form appears.
Click the button at the end of the System* field. The System Code/Type pick-list appears.
Click the Edit List button to modify the pick-list.
Click Add New.
Enter a Code and Type for the System you wish to document.
Click the Keep Dialog Open checkbox to enter additional Systems. When finished, click Add. The new System option appears in the pick-list.
Click Exit Editing, then Cancel. Users can now select the new System on the System Assembly Component form.

Open the Work > Work Order module.
Click the button to expand the Work Order record that you want to modify
In the Work Order's Task grid, locate and open the desired Task record.
Use the System, Assembly, and Component fields to identify the component of the asset that is in need of work.
Click to save the record.

In the System Configuration > Asset Class Library module, click the button to expand the Asset Class record to which you want to assign a System Assembly Component.
In the System Assembly Components grid, click the button. A pop-up appears that lists all System Assembly Components that are not linked to the selected Asset Class record.
Use CTRL + click to select one or more Component records from the list.
Note: Use the blank fields at the top of each column to search for a specific record.
Click Select. The component(s) is added to the Asset Class.

System Assembly Components are assigned to assets via the Asset Class Library; therefore, the feature is restricted to the following modules:
