Splitting Storm Conduits and Pipes

Lucity GIS includes this tool used for splitting storm features in the geodatabase and in the desktop.

Important: This tool should be used to split storm features because it protects the integrity of the Lucity database.  If you split these features manually, the system will not split inspections, work history, and inventory information to the new feature.

To split two features in the map:

  1. In ArcMap, start an edit session.
  2. Click the Split Storm Conduit/Pipe tool on the Lucity GIS Edit toolbar.

    Split

  3. Using the Split tool, select the feature you wish to split.  You can do this by dragging a box around the conduit or pipe or by right clicking on one conduit or pipe.
  4. Once you have the feature selected, right-click on one of the features in the location you want the split to occur.

Note:  Don't worry if you aren't accurate regarding where to perform the split.  You will later be able to enter a length where the split should occur.

  5. A dialog similar to the one below will appear:

    Split Storm Conduit

  6. Enter a structure number for the structure where the split is to occur.

The structure number must be unique. You cannot enter a number that already exists in the Lucity database.

  7. Modify the distance where the split should occur (if needed) and then click "Split".
  8. A message will be displayed when the features have been split in the map.  Save your edit session.

Important: Save your edit session.  Failure to do so will result in the desktop not getting updated correctly.
