Fields in the geodatabase that are linked to a Lucity Code/Type field (pick list) should contain a geodatabase domain. A domain provides the same functions in ArcMap that a picklist provides inside of Lucity. Domains ensure data integrity and help with data population during an edit session. To ensure data integrity between Lucity and the Geodatabase the picklist values should match the domain values. The Update GIS Domains tool in the geodatabase configuration will create/recreate geodatabase domains to match the associated Lucity picklist fields.
There are 4 Update GIS Domains tools. The first will update standard domains for fields that are linked to picklist fields in Lucity. This tool can either be run against the entire Geodatabase or an individual feature class. The other 3 tools are more specialized and update Street Name Domains, MUTCD Domains, and Tree Domains. These can only be run directly against the Database.
Considerations
Are the picklists in Lucity setup with all the correct values?
Do the values in the feature class match up to what they should be when the domain is created?
Are the feature class fields linked to the right Lucity fields?
Within the geodatabase configuration select the geodatabase node in the tree on the left
Right-click and select Domains > Update GIS Domain(s). The following window will appear.
This screen is asking the user to login as the Domain Owner. Domains within a geodatabase can only be edited by the original creator(domain owner). Often not even system admin accounts cannot edit a domain if they weren't used to create it. Make an authentication choice and enter if username and password if needed. Click OK
The tool will run and update all domains for the selected geodatabase. While the tool is running a validation window will appear and keep track of the progress. If a domain can't be created or updated a red error message will appear in the window.
If the Synch Domains tool encounters a geodatabase field linked to a Code/Type field that doesn't have a domain assigned, a prompt, similar to the one below, will appear asking to create one. Click "Yes" to have a domain created for the geodatabase field.
A prompt will appear once the process is completed. Click "Ok" to finish.
In the Geodatabase configuration expand the geodatabase node in the tree.
Right click on a feature class and go to Domains > Update GIS Domain(s). The following screen will appear.
