You'll use this tool to run an update query on the show-in-map flag in the desktop inventory modules.
Note: A feature class does not need to be selected to run this tool.
To use this tool:
In ArcCatalog, click on the Show-in-Map Update tool .
Select the type of map data that you use (Integrated Geodatabase or Shapefiles, Coverages, Non-Integrated Geodatabase).
For all map data types, select the modules you wish to update from the dialog below. Then click OK.
If you use Shapefiles, Coverages, or Non-Integrated Geodatabases, you will need to select the appropriate feature class from its location on your system.
Note: You will receive the following error message if you choose a feature class that is not linked to the selected module. The error message will inform you the proper feature class to select.
Users with all data types will receive the following warning:
This informs you that the tool will clear the inMap fields for the selected feature class and update it with new values. If you wish to continue, click OK.
The tool will then go through all inMap fields for the selected feature class and set them to "Null". The system will then check the assets in the feature class to see if they are in the map. If so, the inMap fields for those assets will be reset to "True". When this process is complete, you'll see the following window. It will let you know how many records have been successfully updated.
