Initial Validation

  1. Immediately upon clicking this tool , a dialog will be displayed showing the results of the validation.  The initial validation takes about two to five minutes to complete.  Once it is complete you will be able to scroll down and view any messages resulting from the validation.

The dialog will look similar to this:

  2. You can copy the results of this dialog into another file, or you can select File > Save or File > Print to print the results.
  3. This label is displaying the current feature class it is validating.  If any warnings or errors are found relating to the feature class, they will be displayed below the feature class label with "Warning" or "Error".  Warnings are just notifications; the validation will still be considered successful even if warnings are found.  If errors are found, the validation will stop and will not continue until all of the errors encountered during the initial validation are found.
  4. If the initial validation completes and only finds warnings, but no errors, you will be prompted as to whether you want to run the geodatabase validation:

    No Errors

  5. Click "Yes" if you wish to continue with the geodatabase validation.

Note:  You will only receive the above message if no errors were found during the initial verification.  Errors must be resolved before running the validation against the geodatabase.

Interpreting the Validation Results:

There are three types of results displayed in this initial verification: Labels, Warnings, and Errors.  The Labels are written as:

Feature Class Description      :        FEATURECLASSNAME
