Importing a Feature Class into an Existing Feature Dataset

To import one feature class into your existing feature dataset, follow the steps below:

1. Click on the Convert Feature Class tool . This will display the following dialog.

   

2. Click on the "Input Feature Class" button and navigate to the new feature class you want to add to your geodatabase.  This can be from a personal geodatabase or another enterprise geodatabase.
3. Click on the "Output Feature Dataset" button and navigate to the feature dataset in your geodatabase into which you want to import this new feature class.  

   Note:  When you select the output feature dataset, make sure you select a connection to your geodatabase that has been established using the user that owns the remaining feature classes in that dataset.

4. Click "Import".  The results of the import will be displayed.
5. Once you import all of the desired feature classes, make sure that you re-apply privileges to the feature dataset so that the new feature classes will have the necessary permissions.  If you want to apply the field name aliases to these new feature classes, use the Update Field Alias tool.
