Customer Address Validation enables agencies to control the input of addresses against one or more selected stores of address component data. This validation ensures that address data are uniform, which improves filtering and reporting.
Important: When enabled, any address field information that cannot be validated will result in an error when attempting to create or edit a record.
Validate Addresses - Enables validation of Building Numbers and Street Names against Customer Addresses and/or Street Segments. This setting is required in order to enable other "Validate Address" settings listed below. Users should enable this setting and then select one or more additional "Validate Address" address settings to dictate the portions of the Customer Address and/or Street Segment by which the system will validate addresses.
Validate Using Customer Addresses* - Enables validation of Building Numbers and Street Names against the Customer Address table.
*If "Validate Using Street Segments" is also TRUE, user input will be validated against Customer Addresses first.
Validate City Text Fields Against Customer Addresses - Enables validation of City text field values against the Customer Address table. Does not validate City code and type fields.
Validate State Against Customer Addresses - Enables validation of State values against the Customer Address table.
Validate Zip Code Against Customer Addresses - Enables validation of Zip Code values against the Customer Address table.
Note: Users can also opt to "Validate (Addresses) Using Street Segments" in addition to or instead of the above Customer Address options.
Note: Separately in Admin Portal's Settings > General Options, users have the additional option to validate address by Street Name only. More information about Street Name Validation.
Select General settings from the dropdown list, or use the search bar to type in the desired settings below.
Part 1: Enable Address Validation
Select the Validate Addresses setting.
Note: This setting is required in order to enable the Address Validation function.
Select Edit. The setting pop-up appears.
Select the checkbox to enable the setting.
Select Save. The setting pop-up closes.
Part 2: Enable one or more Address Validation criteria
Select one of the following "Validate Address..." settings.
Note: In addition to the Validate Addresses setting selected in Part 1 above, you must select one of the following settings or the Validate (Addresses) Using Street Segments setting in order to tell the system the method by which to validate addresses.
Select Edit. The setting pop-up appears.
Select the checkbox to enable the setting.
Select Save. The setting pop-up closes.
Repeat Part 2 for additional "Validate Address..." settings as desired.
Disable Address Validation for individual modules
When Address Validation is enabled globally in Systems Settings, it can be turned off for individual modules using the form's Field Property Editor .
Open a form in the module for which you wish to disable address validation.
Select the Field Property Modification tool. The Editable Properties tab opens for that form.
From the fields list on the left, select Address.
Navigate to the Editing section in the main tab area.
Mark Address Validation Enabled as FALSE by deselecting the box next to this field editing property.
Note: Address validation must be turned on in Systems Settings > Validate Addresses; this field property is not used to enable address validations on an individual module basis. This field property defaults to TRUE when Systems Settings > Validate Addresses is TRUE.
Select Save . Address validation is disabled for the current module.
