PM Resource - Material Kits

PM/Template Tasks can contain groups of Materials in the form of Material Kits. These records are used to estimate amounts of materials needed to accomplish scheduled work.

Material Kits do not track cost or inventory; they are simply a virtual grouping of Materials. Materials in the Kit are pulled from inventory if they are tied to Parts Inventory and once a Work Order is created from a PM. The Material Resources within the Material Kit will perform their regular functions related to costs, inventory, and parts disbursal. More information on PM Resource Materials.

A PM Task's Material Kits grid lists material kits associated with that PM/Template. If the corresponding Task Setup record lists default Material Kits for the activity, the system automatically adds that kit to the Task's Material Kits grid and its related Materials to the Task's Materials grid whenever the Task is included on a PM/Template.

Open the PM/Templates module.
Expand the PM/Template that contains the Task for which you want to split the Material Kit (for that Task, on that PM/Template).
In the Tasks grid, expand the desired Task record.
Select the Material Kit grid and click Add . The Material Kits form opens.
Select a Material Kit from the picklist (required).
Enter an Alt Description, if desired.
Enter the Account # and Proj No - Acct that should be applied when using this material kit on this PM.
Enter a Group Number if the material should be associated with other resources on the work.
Select the Unit of Measure that should be applied to this material kit.
Enter the Units field to indicate how many material kits will be used, to complete the work. Alternatively, use the Units Est field if you are estimating how many material kits will be used.
Click Save . The new record now appears in the PM/Template Task record's Material Kits grid.
- If you entered Units (actual, not estimated) on the Material Kit record, a parts disbursal dialog will appear for the materials in the kit that are linked to a Parts Inventory record.

Open the PM/Templates module.
Click to expand the desired PM/Template record.
In the Tasks grid, click the to expand the desired Task record.
In the Material Kits grid, select the record(s) for which you want to populate units.
Click the Toolkit and select Populate Units | Selected Record(s). At least one Material Kits record must be selected for the toolkit to run. The following pop-up will appear:
Enter the Units of Material Kit Resource you expect to use on the PM Task (required).
Click OK. The toolkit overwrites the existing Units values in the corresponding fields in the selected Material Kit record(s).
