PM/Template Tasks can contain groups of Materials in the form of Material Kits. These records are used to estimate amounts of materials needed to accomplish scheduled work.
Material Kits do not track cost or inventory; they are simply a virtual grouping of Materials. Materials in the Kit are pulled from inventory if they are tied to Parts Inventory and once a Work Order is created from a PM. The Material Resources within the Material Kit will perform their regular functions related to costs, inventory, and parts disbursal. More information on PM Resource Materials.
Material Kits grid
A PM Task's Material Kits grid lists material kits associated with that PM/Template. If the corresponding Task Setup record lists default Material Kits for the activity, the system automatically adds that kit to the Task's Material Kits grid and its related Materials to the Task's Materials grid whenever the Task is included on a PM/Template.
