Resulting Tasks are work activities that should occur once the Main Task on a Work Order is complete.

Sometimes, a resulting task is standard and can be planned: For example, a Work Order to unclog a blocked sewer line might always call for a TV inspection a week later. At other times, a resulting task might be unexpected, such as when an arborist trimming a tree notices that landscape lighting around the tree he's working on is in need of repair. In either case, Lucity can help you automate and track the workflow.

In cases in which the resulting work is standard, Lucity's Task Setup module makes it easy to ensure that the follow-up work isn't overlooked. When you add a Resulting Task to a Task Setup record, Lucity automatically copies the Resulting Task to any Work Order that lists the parent Task as its Main Task. Then, when the Work Order is closed, Lucity automatically creates a new Work Order for the Resulting Task or provides a means to create the new Work Order manually, depending on your preferences. In either case, you can dictate the Start Date of the new Work Order.

If the work is unexpected, you can add a Resulting Task directly to the Work Order you were completing when you noticed the issue. Likewise, you can control how the resulting Work Order is created and when it begins.

A Task Setup record's Resulting Tasks grid displays all Resulting Tasks that should be added to a Work Order by default when this Task is selected as the Work Order's Main Task.

Open the Work > Administration > Work Flow Setup > Task Setup module.
Click the button to expand the desired Task Setup record.
In the Resulting Tasks grid, click the button. The Resulting Task form appears.
Select the desired Task from the pick-list.

Determine when you want Lucity to create the Resulting Work order:
1. Enter the Frequency. This is the number of days, weeks, months, etc. you prefer between the original Work Order's End Date and the Start Date on the resulting Work Order.
2. Select the Occurrence Interval from the pick-list. This indicates the category of time (Days, Weeks, Months, etc.) associated with the Frequency value.
- Example: Department procedures dictate that a TV Inspection should occur one week after a clog in a sewer pipe is cleared. So, you set the Frequency to "1" and the Occurrence Interval to "Week." The End Date on the closed Work Order for clearing the clog is March 7. , Lucity creates a new Work Order for the TV inspection with a Start Date of March 14.
Check the Create Work Order Flag option if you want Lucity to automatically create a new Work Order for the Resulting Task when the original, parent Work Order is closed.
Save and Close the record. The new record appears in the Task Setup record's Resulting Tasks grid. In the future, when anyone selects the parent Task as the Main Task on a Work Order, Lucity automatically copies the associated Resulting Task to the Work Order's Resulting Task grid.

Resulting Task*	Identifies the work activity that needs to be completed. This pick-list consists of other records from the Task Setup module that have the Main Task option checked. More information about Task Classification fields
Frequency	Indicates the number of days/weeks/months (unit specified in the Occurrence Interval field) that should occur between the original Work Order's End Date and the resulting Work Order's Start Date.
Occurrence Interval	The type of date units specified between the original Work Order's End Date and the resulting Work Order's Start Date. (days, weeks, months, etc.).
Create WO Flag	Directs Lucity to immediately generate a Work Order for the Resulting Task when the original Work Order is closed. Once the Resulting Task is added to a Work Order, this field is labeled Automatically create Work Order using End Date. The Start Date on the new Work Order is based on the End Date of the original Work Order and the Frequency and Occurrence Interval values from the Resulting Task record. If you do not check this option, the user can still opt to enable it after the Resulting Task has been added to the Work Order or use a toolkit to manually create the Work Order.
