Split Storm Conduits

The Storm Split tool enables the user to split a Storm Line and, if desired, add a new Structure at the split point.

To split the line in both the geodatabase and in Lucity, the user must use Lucity's Storm Split tool to make the change, not the ESRI split tool. The Lucity tool is enabled only when: 1) one feature is selected in the map; and 2) the feature selected is linear.

How To Split a Storm Conduit in the Map:

  1. Start an edit session in ArcMap.
  2. Select a Storm Conduit in the map.
  3. Click the Storm Split tool on the Lucity GIS Edit toolbar.

  4. The Storm Split tool requires the system to save edits before and after performing the split. Therefore, one of the following prompts appears:

    SM_Merge Message

  5. Click Yes. Using the mouse, click at the position on the line at which the Conduit should be split. (The pointer should automatically snap to the line.) If the Structure that will split the Conduit already exists in the structure feature class, snap the split cursor to the Structure.

  6. If more than one editable Storm Structure feature class exists in the map, the following dialog appears. Select the feature class that will contain the split Structure.

  7. Click OK. The Storm Split form appears:

  8. In the Conflicting Pipe Length section, choose whether to Set Lucity Length = GIS Length or to Proportionally Split Pipe in Lucity to match the split in GIS. (These options are enabled only when the Length of the Pipe differs between Lucity and the geodatabase.)
  9. The Split and Orientation sections can be used to make adjustments to the location of the split along the conduit feature.
  10. In the New Alt PipeID for US Pipe (Optional) section, choose whether to:
  11. In the New Split Point section, assign a Common ID to the new Structure by manually entering the ID or by allowing Lucity to auto-number the Structure (enabled only when the option is set up in the Geodatabase Configuration tool).

Note: If a Structure already exists at the point along the line conduit where the split is performed, this section is disabled. Instead, Lucity displays the existing Structure information.

  12. In the New Alt Pipe ID for DS Pipe (Optional) section, choose whether to:
  13. To retain a record in the Pipe Inventory for the Pipe as it was before the split, enable the Archive Pre-split Pipe option and set a Status for the archived Pipe.
  14. To override the settings that control which Lucity modules are associated with the new Pipe, click the Advanced Settings button.
