Resulting Tasks

The Resulting Tasks grid allows you to log additional tasks that result from the work order. You can then choose whether or not to have a work order automatically generated for that task in the Work Flow Setup, Work Tasks module.

Adding a Resulting Task

Resulting Tasks can be added automatically or manually. For a resulting task to be added automatically, the resulting task must be associated with the main task in the Work Flow Setup, Work Tasks module.

To add a resulting task manually, complete the following steps:

  1. Right-click in the grid and select Add Record. The following screen will appear:

    Resulting Task

  2. Select a resulting task code from the pick list (press F9 or click on the field caption button).

Note: The WO Number field will be automatically populated once a work order is generated for the resulting task. The Initiating Task Code is automatically populated with the main task from the WO tab.

  3. Enter a frequency, occurrence interval, and start date.
  4. In the check-box provided, indicate whether you would like this task to be linked to the initial work order. If you choose this link, the Related Work Orders grid in both the resulting work order and the initiating work order will contain additional information. In the resulting work order, you will see a listing for the initiating work order. In the initiating work order, you will see a listing for the resulting work order. If you choose not to link to the initial work order, neither record will display the information described here.

Warning: By marking this check-box, you will link the original work order to every future work order generated as a result. Thus, you should not use this function for resulting work orders that will generate a large or continuous series of work orders as the linking would quickly become unmanageable.

  5. Click to save the record.
  6. Click to close the window.
  7. When the Work Order is closed the program will immediately generate a work order for each resulting tasks. These Start Dates on these work order will be based on the End Date of the just closed work order and the Frequency and Occurrence Interval of the tasks.

Note: For additional information on the fields in this dialog, please reference the Special Functions topic.
