Locate

The Locate tool allows users to quickly retrieve specific records within the current record set. The following examples are from the Customer module, however these same steps apply in other modules.

How To Locate

  1. Click on the module toolbar, and the following screen will appear:

  2. The search is organized by the predetermined fields at the top of the window. Click on the heading of the field to search by. The selected header text becomes red italics. For example, in the screen above, the "Business Name" header is selected therefore the text is now in red italics.
  3. Notice that the selected column is sorted A-Z 0-9 and the entire filterset is reorganized based how this column is now sorted.

    Note: If you want to print this form, use the browse function-which gives you the option to print.

  4. Users can search for a record by scrolling through the list of records or by using a dynamic search. To use dynamic search select the column to search in. At the top of the window to enter the information you are looking for in the white box.
  5. They system uses partial text so as more is typed into the white box, it will continue to look for matches in the filterset
  6. For example, somebody might enter a business name.  The first record associated with that business name will be highlighted in red (see figure below).

  7. Once the desired record is selected press Enter or click . The module will open the selected record.

    Note: If slower than normal processing times are experienced, use the Locate on Demand search function.

    Note:  When conducting a locate on addresses, the following sort order applies: (1) Street Name, (2) Street Direction, (3) Street Type, (4) Street Suffix.

    Note: If users are using a Locate on a filtered data set, and have changed a value in one of the fields they have filtered on, the Locate may not function properly. They will need to re-run the filter.
