2015 Release Notes

System Requirement Changes

• Lucity no longer supports Microsoft Access as a database for storing Lucity data. Please contact Lucity Support if your agency still uses Microsoft Access.
• Lucity Mobile Offline is not supported when the Lucity Mobile Server is installed on Windows Server 2008.
• Lucity now supports ArcGIS 10.3.
• Lucity no longer supports Lucity Mobile Manager and the Lucity Field program.
• Lucity no longer supports the old Lucity GIS Viewer.

System Wide

• Inventory Modules

  Added a Carry Over to Work Order flag to the grid comments for Inventory modules. If this field is checked and a Work Order is created from the Asset, the Comment will be copied to the Work Order's Comment grid.
  Added Inspection Frequency and Frequency Type fields to most Inventory modules.
  Added additional user-defined fields so that every Inventory module now has a minimum of 40 user-defined fields.
  Added Maintenance Zone and Alternative Zone fields to every module. (See Work Order Zones.)

• Inspection Modules

  Added a Needs Repair flag to most Asset Inspections. If an Inspection is created and this flag is checked, the system will automatically create a Work Order when the Inspection is saved.
  Added Comment grids to all Inspection modules.
  Added additional user-defined fields so that every Inspection module now has a minimum of 40 user-defined fields.
  Added an Inspection Time field where applicable so that every Inspection module has the ability to track both the Inspection Date and the Inspection Time.

Electric

  Added a Reading field to the Inventory record in order to display the reading from the Last Inspection (found on the Inspection tab).

Environmental Survey Site

  Provided the ability to link Environmental Survey Sites to Storm Conduits, Structures, and Detention Basins.

Facility

• Building Inventory

  Added a Project ID field to link a Building to a Project in the Work module.

Fleet

• Travel Log

  Added a General Option field, which gives agencies options for using the Travel Log. Users can either enter the Ending Odometer/Hourmeter reading, which is then used to automatically calculate the Miles/Hours traveled; or Users can enter the Miles/Hours traveled, which then is used to automatically calculate the expected Ending Odometer/Hourmeter reading.

Work

• Categories

  Added three new Category settings: Requires Asset to Close WO - When enabled and that Category is used on a Work Order, the Work Order must contain an Asset in the same Category before the Work Order can be closed. Requires Employee Time to Close WO - When enabled and that Category is used on a Work Order, all Employees attached as Resources must enter their time before the Work Order can be closed. Request WO Creation Shows Templates - Enable this setting to modify how Work Orders are created from Requests. If the Category is used on a Work Request and a Work Order is created from the Request, a pop-up will appear to prompt the user to select a Work Template.

• Problem

  Added an Award pick-list field.
  Added a Maintenance Zones grid that enables users to assign Maintenance Zones to the problem and, thereby, assign associated Supervisors.

• Zones

  Created two new Work Flow Setup modules, Maintenance Zones and Alternate Zones, to allow agencies to classify Work Orders based on location. Maintenance Zones can also be used to assign a Zone Supervisor. Both of these new modules can be configured to automatic populate the related Work Order or Request based on an agency's GIS data.

• Work Orders

  Added Received By and Inspected By fields. Both fields are pick-lists populated with data from the Work Flow Setup > Employee module.
  Added a Contractor field. This is a pick-list populated with data from the Work Flow Setup > Contractors module.

• Work Options

  Added an Always Generate Work Orders on PM Schedule option. This feature, when enabled, allows the PM module to generate new Work Orders on a PM schedule, even if previous Work Orders generated by the schedule remain open.
  Added a Find Duplicate Request by Problem option. This feature directs the Request module to search for duplicate Requests based on the Problem field.

Administration Tool

General

• Added a dialog to show the status/history of the Background Tasks.
• Added a Maximize button to the Acquire Filter dialog on the Lucity Administration Tool to provide extensive space for very long SQL statements.
• Added Client Maintenance under the System menu.
• Provided new Clear All Caches tools.

Forms

• Added an Import Template button to the View/Form Manager.
• Renamed the Import from XML menu item to Import Template Views/Forms.

System Settings

• Created a SaaS tab to store information for agencies that use Software as a Service licensing.
• Added a flag to the GIS Web tab to allow agencies still using ArcGIS 10.1 to indicate they are using the older version. Lucity changed the way it geocoded locations in Fall 2014; however, the new process requires ArcGIS 10.2 or greater.
• Created a Work Zones tab with settings that allow an agency to point Lucity to map services that can be used to look up Work Zones.

Dashboard Manager

• Improved how shared tabs are stored in the database in order to make the process more stable.

Form Editor

• Provided the ability to show the TableName/FieldName on the Form Editor dialog when adding fields to a Form.
• Added the Property Name field to the Form Editor’s Component Property list, which can be helpful to third-party developers.
• Modified the form cache so that when a user saves Form edits, the Form's cache is automatically cleared on the web server. This eliminates the need for an administrator to clear the cache manually.

Reports

• Report Manager
  • Prohibited users from modifying the links to the reports Lucity provides.
  • Modified the processes for managing custom reports.

GIS

• Connection Strings
  • Added support for a new database type: ArcGISOnline. The string can be used to point to ArcGIS Online data sources.
• GIS Config
  • Added the GIS Config tool, which allows users to configure their ArcGIS Online resources with Lucity.
• Map Setup
  • Gave users the ability to set a Default Extent for their maps. The Default Extent controls the scope of the map searched by a geolocator.
• Map Editor
  • Enabled users to indicate whether a map is for Lucity Web, Lucity Mobile, both, or GIS Viewer.
  • Added a Disable Visibility feature that allows users to turn off the selected map service when the map is loaded. This reduces the amount of data loaded initially, but keeps the layer in the map so that users can turn it on when they need it.
  • Gave users the ability to set the extent of a map service as the default extent for the entire map.

Document Server

• Modified the system so that the document server gathers files when users request logs or when they export data. This change does not affect the user experience.

GIS - Desktop

ArcCatalog - Configuration Tools

• Scheduled Tasks
  • Added an Enable number generator for imports option for GIS Scheduled Tasks. When enabled, the Lucity GIS Number Generator assigns a number to features (without numbers) when the Task syncs the record into Lucity.

ArcGIS Online

• Added support for storing feature classes in ArcGIS Online. This functionality is configured in the Lucity Administration Tool.

Import & Update

• Enabled users to import data into the Work Orders and Requests modules.
• Enabled users to import data into the Address module.
• Provided the ability to add Grid Comments to the modules that have Grid Comments.  However, only a single Comment can be added per run of the import, per record.  The property to map to add the Grid Comment is called "AddToCommentGrid" in the mapping page.

Security

• Added a new permission, Images/Movies/Documents - Delete File, that enables users to delete uploaded files. The related process deletes the file and removes the attachment from the current file.

Services

Email Service

• All emails now go through the Email Queue. Starting with Lucity 2015, no emails from any web apps are sent directly from the web server. The only server that must be able to send email is the server on which Lucity Services are installed. This includes system health emails, exported data emails, etc.

Web

Dashboard

• Provided access to the Beta version of Lucity's new HTML Dashboard to present its new capabilities. By default, only Administrators have access to the Beta Dashboard.
• Added a Quick Lookup plugin that enables users to type in an ID number for a record in a specific module. The module then opens directly to that record. Users can also click in the field and press the space bar to populate the last number the they entered.
• Added a URL plugin that lets administrators embed a URL into a Dashboard frame. In the Beta Dashboard, administrators can opt to display the URL’s target web site inside the frame, which means SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports could be embedded into the Dashboard. Note: Some websites block the ability to embed their content in a frame.

General

• Modified the Lucity Web app so that it automatically clears out temporary files when it is restarted overnight. Temporary files include old copies of reports and files that users requested be zipped up and emailed.
• Removed the right-click options associated with the Lucity logo. These functions are now available on the drop-down menu under the user's name.
• Eliminated the need to restart IIS in order for field property calculation changes to take effect.

  • Added support for Crystal Reports with multi-select parameters.
  • Added support for dynamic Crystal Report parameters. These parameters pull the list of values that a user can select from the values stored in a specific field.
  • Gave users the ability to upload reports through the Web interface.
• Documents
  • Provided the capability to delete attached documents that were uploaded to the Lucity Document Server.

Views/Grids/Forms

• Editable Grids
  • Added a Show Only Parts on this Equipment option to the Work Task editable grid when a piece of Equipment is added to a Work Order as an Asset. When this option is enabled and the user adds a new Material as a Resource, the pick-list will only display the Materials attached as Equipment Parts to the selected Equipment record.

Forms

• Added new tool tips that appear when users mouse-over tools on forms.

Timesheet

• Added a Submit button to the Timesheet to allow users to indicate that they are finished adding and/or editing time for the period.

Webmap

• Added new Sewer and Storm Trace tools:
  • Upstream – Enables users to trace all Pipes upstream of a selected point.
  • Upstream Distance – Enables users to trace all Pipes within a specified distance upstream of a selected point.
  • Upstream Segment - Enables users to trace all Pipes within an specified number of segments upstream of a selected point.
  • Downstream - Enables users to trace all Pipes downstream of a selected point.
  • Downstream Distance – Enables users to trace all Pipes within a specified distance downstream of a selected point.
  • Downstream Segment - Enables users to trace all Pipes within an specified number of segments downstream of a selected point.
