The Smoke (Smk), Dye, and Building (Bldg) tab houses a list of code-descriptions used to classify the flow type and the point a which the smoke or dye was detected during an inspection. Users also can specify the amount of rainfall for the area and runoff factors here.
The flow rate for Smoke Test or Building Inspection Defects is calculated in one of two ways: 1) by taking the Smoke Quantity and pulling the GPM from the table or 2) by using the following equation:
Length * Width * Rainfall in./hr * Run-off Coefficient corresponding to the run-off factor
Right-click in the grid and select Add Record. The following window appears:
Click Source, and the list of existing codes appears.
Click Add. The Input dialog appears:
Entera unique code.
Enter a description.
Click OK. The code- description is then added to the existing list.
Highlight the new code-description in the list and click Select. The Add window reappears,and the Source code-description is displayed.
Click Flow Type. The list of existing flow types appears:
Click Add. The Input dialog appears:
Entera unique code.
Enter a description.
Click OK. The code-description is then added to the existing list.
Highlight the new code-description in the list and click Select. The Add window reappears, and the Flow Type code-description is displayed.
Enter the flow for each of the Assigned Flow fields (circled in red below).
Mark the Calculate checkbox to figure contributing areas into the estimated flow calculations. If this checkbox is not marked, only the values entered in the Assigned Flow fields are used in the calculation.
Right-click on the record to edit and select Edit Record. A window similar to the following appears:
Make changes to the Assigned Flow fields and the Calculate checkbox.
Save and Close the record.
Note: When a rating is edited, the change only affects data from that point on; that is, past data will not be modified unless the user runs the "Recalc All" option (under System Tools).
