The Attributes tab contains general information about each street subsegments. This information is made up of things like descriptions of the starting and ending points, pavement type, surface type, group number, dimensions, area, cross slope, and number of lanes. Note: A subsegment can only be part of one supersegment. However, a supersegment can be made up of many subsegments.
Field Name |
Function |
Classification Pavement Type Pavement Strength |
These fields allow users to specify the type of road, and pavement used. Together these fields are used to match the subsegment to a record in the Pavement Standard module. That module provides a deterioration curve for each type of pavement, which is used to calculate the subsegment PCI on the Inspection tab. |
Group Number |
Automatically filled out from the Group ID field on the related supersegment record. |
Superseg Rec # |
This is record number of the supersegment that the subsegment is linked to. To select a supersegment to link the subsegment to click the Superseg Rec # caption button or click in the field and press F9 for a list of supersegments. Choose a supersegment from the list to link this subsegment to it. |
SuperSegment ID |
This is the supersegments common ID. This is filled out automatically when the subsegment is linked to the supersegment. |
SuperSeg Desc |
This is the supersegment description. This is filled out automatically when the subsegment is linked to the supersegment. |
Length |
The length of the subsegment from the start station to the end station. This field is used in the Pavement Area and Additional Area calculation. |
Width |
The average width of the subsegment. This field is used in the Pavement Area and Additional Area calculation. |
Pavement Area (SY) |
To calculate pavement area click in the field and press the F5 key. The system calculates area in square yards by using the following calculation:
Note: The Length and Width fields must be populated for the system to calculate Pavement Area. Override the system calculation by manually entering a value in the Pavement Area field. |
CDS Diameter |
Enter the cul-de-sac diameter in this field. This is used in the Additional Area calculation. |
Additional Area |
To calculate additional area click in the field and press the F5 key. In order for the system to calculate the Additional Area, this field must be empty. The system will not overwrite a value in this field. The calculation for this field is as follows (note that the calculation assumes the length of the road extends to the center of the cul-de-sac):
Thus, the simple calculation for the Additional Area is: The more advanced calculation for the Additional Area is: Note: To add or subtract area from the calculated additional area, run the calculation while the field is blank and then manually add or subtract from that calculated value. The final value entered in this field will be used in the Total Area calculation. Note: The Additional Area field can contain a positive or negative value. For example, include a negative value in this field to indicate the space occupied by a median. By including a negative value that reflects the area of the median, the system will subtract that value from the total area to reflect the space occupied by the median. This is useful as the Median Width field is not included in calculations. |
Total Area |
To calculate total area click in the field and press the F5 key. The system will calculate it using: Pave Area (SY) + Additional Area = Total Area |
Street Number |
This field is filled out by from the corresponding field in the Street Segment. |
Block Number |
This field is filled out by from the corresponding field in the Street Segment. |
