Hydrants Tab

The Hydrants tab is used to record the results of the hydrant flushing. The tab's three grids display the route's Hydrants, Valves, and Pipes, which are carried over from the corresponding grids on the Flushing Route record.

Hydrant To Flush Grid

The Hydrant To Flush grid shows a list of Water Hydrants to be flushed and indicates the order in which they should be flushed. It is here that users record the results of the flush for each hydrant.

A sample of the Hydrant To Flush grid appears below. Sort records in the grid by clicking on the headings.  An up or down arrow (highlighted in orange below) indicates whether data appear in ascending or descending order.

The record that the user selects in this grid determines which records appear in the Valves to Open or Close for Hydrant and Pipes Cleaned Based on Flushing of Hydrant grids below.

• Right-click in the grid to add a record.
• Right-click on an existing record for options to View Record, Add Record, Edit Record, Delete Record, Create Subset, Load Subset, and:
  • Create Hydrant Inspection - Creates an Inspection record for the selected hydrant.
  • View Hydrant Inventory Record - Opens the Water Hydrants module to display the Hydrant record.
  • View Hydrant in Map - Opens a mapping program and highlights the selected feature.
  • Insert Hydrant Above - Enables users to select a Hydrant and add a new hydrant above it.
• Double-click on an existing record to open it.
• Reorder arrows appear at the bottom of the grid. Select an item in the grid and use the up or down arrow to change its position in the list.

  How to add a Hydrant

  1. Right-click in the grid and select Add Record. The following pop-up appears:

     

  2. Enter a Hydrant Number (required).
     • Click the field caption or press F9 for a list of Hydrant records.
     • The Sequence is also required and must be unique; however, the system automatically completes this field.
  3. Fill out other fields as desired.
  4. Save and close the record. The system creates a Water Loss record based on the amount of water flushed out of the hydrant. This happens when the Discharge Volume field is automatically completed and the record is saved.

  How to create a Subset

  1. Highlight the records in the grid that should be included in the subset.
  2. Right-click and select Subset > Create Subset. The following pop-up appears:

     

  3. Name the new subset. 

     Note: Click the green arrow to see a list of existing subset names. Duplicate names are not permitted.

  4. Click OK to save the subset name.

  How to load a Subset

  1. Right-click in the grid and select Subsets > Load Subset.  The Subset Manager window appears:

     

  2. Select the name of the subset to load.
  3. Click Load. The records in the subset are loaded into the grid.

  How to create a Hydrant Inspection

  1. Select a Hydrant in the grid.
  2. Right-click on the record and select Create Hydrant Inspection.
  3. The Distribution Hydrant Inspection module opens and displays a new record.
  4. Enter the Inspection Date (required).
     • The Hydrant Number is also required; however, the system automatically completes this field when an Inspection is created in this method.
  5. Fill out other fields as desired.
  6. Save and close this record.

  How to insert a Hydrant above [Table below seems misplaced. Would it be better right under the graphic?]

  1. Select a Hydrant in the grid.
  2. Right-click in the Hydrant record and select Add Hydrant Above. The following pop-up appears:

     

     • This pick-list only shows records in which the hydrant's Pressure Zone matches the water flushing route's Pressure Zone.
  3. Select a Hydrant from the list and click Select. The Hydrant record is inserted into the grid above the selected record.

Valves To Close and Then Open Grid

The Valves To Close and Then Open grid shows a list of Water Valves to be opened or closed for each hydrant.

A sample of the grid appears below. Sort records in the grid by clicking on the headings.  An up or down arrow (highlighted in orange below) indicates whether data appear in ascending or descending order.

The record the user selects in the Hydrant grid determines which records appear this grid.

• Right-click in the grid to add a record.

  5. Fill out the other fields as desired.

  How to create a Subset

  2. Right-click on the record and select Create Valve Inspection.

  4. Enter the Last Inspection date (required).
     • The Valve Number is also required; however, the system automatically completes this field when an inspection is created using this method.
  5. Complete other fields as desired.
  6. Save and close this record.

Pipes Cleaned Based on Flushing of Hydrant

The Pipes Cleaned Based on Flushing of Hydrant grid shows a list of Water Pipes that are attached to the hydrants and valves

A sample of the grid appears below. Sort records in the grid by clicking on the headings.  An up or down arrow (highlighted in orange below) indicates whether data appear in ascending or descending order.

The record the user selects in the Hydrant grid determines which records appear in this grid.

• Right-click in the grid to add a record.
• Right-click on an existing record fo options to View Record, Add Record, Edit Record, Delete Record, Create Subset, Load Subset, and:
  • View Pipe in Map - Opens a mapping program and highlights the selected feature.
• Double-click on an existing record to open it.

  How to add a Pipe

  1. Select a record in the Hydrants grid. The pipe will be associated to this.
  2. Right-click in the Pipes Cleaned based on Flushing of Hydrant grid and select Add Record. The following pop-up appears:

     

     This pick-list only shows records in which the pipe's Pressure Zone matches the water flushing route's Pressure Zone.

  3. Select a Water Pipe from the list and click Select. The Pipe is added to the grid.

     Note: The records in this grid link directly to Pipe Inventory records; the system does not create separate Pipes Cleaned records.
