Module Basics

Lucity modules are made up of a series of grids and fields that contain various pieces of information about each type of record. Together these provide a detailed historical picture of the record.

Fields

Each field in a module has a specific purpose and some have built in calculations. However, unless a field is used to identify the record, is calculated, or is part of a calculation it can be customized by the organization to store alternate information.

ID Fields

Each record in Lucity has two ID fields. The Alt ID and the Record Number.

• Common ID - The primary user-defined ID field for most modules within Lucity.
  • Common ID is a required text field that provides each record with a unique identifier.
  • Also called: Alt ID, Common Link, Asset Number
  • Auto populate - Modules in Lucity Web can be configured to automatically populate this field.
    • To do this you need to make the field not required on the global level and on the form you use to add records.
    • Create a new record.
    • When you save the record it will automatically populate the Common ID with the Rec #.
• Rec # - The database-assigned ID for every record stored within the Lucity database.
  • The Rec # is automatically generated when the user creates a new record in Lucity. It cannot be changed.
  • Also called: Lucity Auto ID

    Note: Other records may have more identifying fields. For example inspections use a combination of the parent asset's Record Number and the inspection Date.
