Data Drills

Data drills filter a module for data and then display and group the data based on different attributes. Data drills can be created against a variety of modules, and each Data drill can contain an unlimited number of drill-downs.

This example shows a data drill of all open Service Requests for various filters. The records are grouped by the Status and then by the Problem.

The Requests module displays 49 records in the filterset. Clicking on the Status drilldown such as New Request opens a view of those 5 Problem records.

Open the Dashboard and the Dashboard Tab that you would like to edit.
Click Enter Design Mode .
Locate the Frame to which you would like to add a Plugin.
Click the Add Plugin button at the bottom of the Frame. The following pop-up appears:
Select Create a New Plugin. The tool expands to display Plugin options.
Select the Data Drill option.
Click Create Plugin. The Data Drill edit menu will appear to the right.
Enter or edit the data drill Name if desired.
Enter a Description if you wish to provide users with descriptive text when they hover over the description icon next do a data drill.
Click Select Filter to open the Acquire Filter window to modify the base filter for the Data Drill.
1. Select the Module whose data you want to add to the Current Filter.
2. Select Column Names and Reserved Words to add to the filterset as desired.
3. You may manually edit the text in the Current Filter textbox to further narrow the filterset.
  - This filter must include all table names that will be accessed by the drill-downs.
Click OK.
Add drill-downs into the Drill Downs grid and put them in the desired order.
If desired, mark the Select Custom View field and select a web View from the list.
Indicate Sequence in Frame to dictate the order in which this plugin will appear in the frame.
Click Save to accept the plug-in settings.

Enter Design Mode, then Add Plugin > Data Drill or Edit a Data Drill.
1. If Add Data Drill, you must first Select a Filter.
Click Add next to the Drill Downs grid. The Add Drill Down dialog appears:
Select a database Table Name from the list.
- Only Table Names included in the base filter of the Data Drill are displayed in this list.
Select a Column Name from the list to indicate the column by which the data will be sorted and grouped. Any column in the selected table can be chosen.
Click OK to confirm changes.

Enter Design Mode, then Add Plugin > Data Drill or Edit a Data Drill.
1. If Add Data Drill, you must first Select a Filter.
Select a Drill-Down from the grid and click Edit. The Edit Drill Down dialog appears:
Select a new Column Name. *To select a new Table Name you must add a new Drill-Down.
Click OK. The revised Drill-Down appears in the Drill Down section of the Edit Data Drill window.
Click Save.

Data Drills can incorporate data from more than one table.

Click Enter Design Mode .
Locate the Frame to which you would like to add a Data Drill Plugin or edit a Data Drill Plugin.
In the Add or Edit Data Drill window, click Select Filter. The Acquire Filter window opens.

- Below is an example of a filter with two database tables: WKORDER and WKWOTSK.
- Using this setup, the Add Drill Down selection lists will contain all tables included in the filter string.
- In this example, the drop-down lists contain both the WKWOTSK and WKORDER tables:


Drill-downs take the base filter and break it down into smaller parts. For example, the base filter displays all open Work Orders. The first drill-down organizes open Work Orders by Supervisor; the second drill-down then groups them by Main Task. According to these parameters, the Data Drill includes a node with all open Work Orders. When the node is expanded, all of the Supervisors are listed with their Work grouped under them. When a Supervisor is expanded, their Work is listed and grouped by Task.
Add	Adds a drill-down to the list at left.
Edit	Allows the user to modify the drill-down selected in the list at left.
Delete	Deletes the drill-down selected at left.
Move Up	Moves the selected drill-down record up one space in the grid. The order of the drill-downs in the grid reflects the order they occur in the Data Drill.
Move Down	Moves the selected drill-down record down one space in the grid.

Name	Indicates the name that appears at the first node of the Data Drill. This text is carried over from the Plugin Name entered when the plugin was created.
Description	Identifies details about this data drill when the user hovers over the description icon .
Filter	Displays the base filter of the Data Drill. For example, the filter might display all open Work Orders. The filterset can then be broken down by Task, Supervisor, etc., using the drill-downs below. This base filter must include all table names that will be accessed by the drill-downs.
Select Filter	Enables users to modify the base Filter.
