Add/Delete Records
The
and buttons allow users to create or erase records in the module associated with the current grid.Important: Deleting a record may update the Audit Log.
- Select the Add Record button in the grid you want to add a record to. Multiple Add Record buttons may be visible when child grids are open:
- To add a record to a parent module, select the Add Record button in the parent grid toolbar.
To add a record to a child grid, select the to expand a parent record. Select the Add Record button in the toolbar of the child grid to which you want to add a record.
Note: If an Add Record button does not appear in the toolbar: (1) There is no form setup for the corresponding record type; or, (2) the user does not have permission to add records. See your system administrator for more information.
- The application loads a form for the module in another window. Complete and save the form as desired.
- Select one or more records you want to delete.
- Select the Delete Record button in the grid containing the record(s) you want to delete. Multiple Delete Record buttons may be visible when child grids are open.
- To delete record(s) from a parent module, select the Delete Record button in the parent grid toolbar.
- To delete record(s) from a child grid, If a parent record is expanded, select the to expand a parent record. Select the Delete Record button in the toolbar of the child grid containing the record(s) you want to delete.
Note: If a Delete Record button does not appear in the toolbar, the user does not have permission to delete records. See your system administrator for more information.
- A prompt appears to ask the user to confirm the action to delete record(s). Select Yes to delete the record(s).
- If the record(s) cannot be deleted, the following message appears: "You are unable to delete this object due to its state and/or your permissions."
Warning: When a parent record is deleted, all child records associated with that parent are also deleted. For example, when a Fleet Inventory record is deleted, the associated Fleet Fueling records are deleted as well.
Note: Some records cannot be deleted without doing something else first. For example, a Work Order cannot be deleted if it has a linked Request. You must break the link to the Request before the Work Order record can be deleted.
