Flowed Hydrant Grid

1. Right click in the grid and select Add Record. The following window will appear:

   

2. Enter they Hydrant Number. Click the caption button or click in the field and push F9 for a pop-up list of hydrants to select from.
3. Enter the Pitot Pressure reading.
   • This field must be populated for the Discharge or Q to be calculated.

     Note: If you know the orifice factor, skip ahead to step 5.

4. Method 1 - If the Orifice Factor is not know use this method to calculate the Discharge of Q.
   • Fill out the Nozzle Size and Q Coefficient.
   • The Unit Conv Factor field defaults to 29.8 SAE  (0.111 SI). However, it can be modified.
   • All three of these fields must be populated for the Discharge or Q field to be calculated. The Discharge or Q will then be calculated as follows:

     Discharge = Unit Conv Factor * Q coefficient * (nozzle size)^2 * square root of Pitot Pressure reading

5. Method 2 - Enter the Orifice Factor. The Discharge or Q will then be calculated as follows:

   Discharge = Orifice Factor * square root of Pitot Pressure reading

6. Enter the Starting Time and Ending Time. The Total Test Time will be auto-calculated (in minutes) based on the data in these fields. The Total Test Time can also be manually populated.
7. Upon entering a Total Test Time, the Volume Released is calculated as follows:

   Volume Released = Discharge * Total Test Time

8. Save and Close the record.
