Controlling Values

The Controlling Values allow users to set a portion of the supersegment as the controlling PCI for the supersegment. For instance, mark the checkbox for Use Control Value and the minimum controlling percent set to 30. This would mean that if any of the connected subsegments are make up at least 30% of the area of the supersegment, then that subsegment (or subsegments) will be selected. The system will then find the subsegment(s) values with the largest PCI and display that subsegment(s) data in this supersegment record.

To use the Controlling Values instead of the Blended Values during a model run, check the Use Control Value box and enter a value in the Min Controlling % field.

The various factor and ratings fields will be filled by the system if such data is included in the corresponding subsegment records. The system uses the following processes to obtain these values:

Field

Source

C Load Factor

C Non-Load Factor

C Environ Factor

The Load, Non-Load, and Environmental Factors are carried over by the system from the PCI tab of the related Field Inspections. These represent the sum of the Final Deduct values from the Distresses tab for each Load, Non-Load, and Environmental Distress Type.

Note: The Factors (not Ratings) are used by the model run when the "Combination of PCI and Factors" is set to Required in the Rehab Per Pavement/Classification module.

C Structural Factor

C Roughness Factor

The Structural and Roughness Factors are carried over by the system from the PCI tab of the related Field Inspections. These represent the user-entered Initial Strength and Initial Roughness PCI values.

Note: The Factors (not Ratings) are used by the model run when the "Combination of PCI and Factors" is set to Required in the Rehab Per Pavement/Classification module.

C Load Rating

Ratings = (C Load Factor * Supersegment Area) / 10,000

C Non-Load Rating

Ratings = (C Non-Load Factor * Supersegment Area) / 10,000

C Environ Rating

Ratings = (C Environ Factor * Supersegment Area) / 10,000

C Structural Rating

Ratings = (C Structural Factor * Supersegment Area) / 10,000

C Roughness Rating

Ratings = (C Roughness Factor * Supersegment Area) / 10,000

Note: Each distress can be assigned to one of the types listed above (load, non-load, environmental, etc.) in the Pavement Setup, Pavement Distresses module.

Note:  If all of the fields are blank and have yet to be calculated by the system, use the Toolkit function to make the calculations.
