Project Assets

This grid allows you to associate individual inventory assets with the construction project. You can use this grid to track the cost of each individual asset as well as its individual asset life and deterioration schedule.

A sample of the grid appears below. To sort items in the grid, click on the headings. An up or down arrow will appear signifying ascending or descending order. Click the heading again to change directions.

  1. To create a new record, highlight a listing in the Project Asset Distribution record and Right-click in the Project Asset grid. Then, select Add Record. A window similar to the following will appear:

    project single asset

  2. The Object Type will be automatically entered by the system. This matches the highlighted object type in the Project Asset Distribution grid.

Note: This field cannot be edited by the user. To change the Object Type, highlight a different asset type listing in the Project Asset Distribution grid.

  3. Select an individual asset from the Link 1 pick list (use F9 to access the list). The list displays assets of the same type as indicated in the Object Type field.
  4. The Link 2 field will be populated by the system if the asset chosen from the Link 1 list has an alternate or secondary ID. For example, Sewer Pipes have two system IDs.
  5. If you selected "Count" as the UOM (unit of measure) in the related Project Asset Distribution record, all other fields in this dialog will be populated by the system with data from that record. You can edit this data if needed.
  6. If you selected "Sum" as the UOM (unit of measure) in the related Project Asset Distribution record, only the Asset Life field will be populated. All other data will be user-entered.
  7. The Present Value and Remaining Life fields are calculated by the system. The calculation for the Remaining Life field is listed below.
  8. If the asset has reached the end of its useful life, the "No Remaining Value" checkbox will be marked by the system.
  9. Save and Close the record.
