Locate and Search Options

Locate/Search is a workstation based setting.

This setting allows you to choose how the system will search for record data when using the locate feature in a module.

• If you choose the Locate while Typing feature, the database will begin searching for data while you are still typing.
• If you choose the Locate on Demand feature, the database will begin searching for data after you are finished typing and hit <Enter> or click .

  Note: If you do not type quickly, the Locate on Demand feature might be your best option.

If you are using Oracle or SQL Server as your main database, we recommend you choose one of two options to expedite your search: Locate on Demand or Locate on Demand if the number of records is greater than .

• If you select Locate on Demand, the database will not begin a search until you are finished typing and hit <Enter>.
• If you select the second option, the database will begin a search while typing unless the record set contains over a certain number of records; then you will have to hit <Enter> to begin a search. The system will default to 100 records, but you can select another number.
