Observations

To add an observation record, complete the steps below:

  1. Right-click in the grid and select Add Record. The following dialog will appear:

    PACP Observations

  2. Record the distance to the feature location. This distance can be measured in feet or meters.

Note: This field is required in order to save the record.

  3. In the Counter field, record the time into the video of the identified condition, in seconds.
  4. In the VCR Time field, record the time into the video of the identified condition in HHMMSS format. Use 0 as a space holder.
  5. Use the Defect field to select the combination of Group/Descriptor and Modifier/Severity from the pick list.

Note: These codes comply with the NAASCO PACP standards and are used to calculate the read-only Structural and O&M fields in this record.

  6. Use the Clock At/From field to denote the At/From position of the defect or observation.
  7. Use the Clock To field to denote the To position of the defect or observation.
  8. The Value 1st Dimension field allows you to indicate the dimensions of defects to the nearest inch or millimeter.
  9. The Value 2nd Dimension field is used for intrusion of tap or width of non-circular connecting pipes to the nearest inch or millimeter.
  10. The Continuous Defect # field must contain an S (start) or F (finish) to denote the beginning and ending of a defect.
  11. The Value Percent field is used to express the percentage value of defects.
  12. Mark the Joint checkbox to indicate a defect located near a joint.
  13. The Structural Grade, O&M, Structural Number, O&M Number, and Building Connection fields are read-only fields. These are populated by the system based on the PACP Code selected. They indicate the Structural and Occurrence Grade and Number and presence of a Building Connection as specified by the PACP standards.

Note: The values in these fields are then used by the system to calculate the Structural and Occurrence Ratings on the Condition Ratings tab. For additional information on how these fields are calculated, consult the Grading System Code Matrix Example.

  14. Click to save the record.
  15. Click to escape Add Mode.
  16. Click to close the window.
  17. You can then View, Edit, or Delete the record using the functions in the grid.
