Adding a Resource

To add a resource, complete the following steps:

  1. Right click in the grid and select Add Record. The following screen will appear:

    Task Resources

  2. Select a resource type from the pick list. This is a required field.
  3. Select a resource from the pick list. This is a required field.

    Note: Available resources will vary depending on the resource type selected.  

  4. Enter other data in the appropriate fields. You can view any field definition by right clicking + Ctrl in that field.

    Note: The Group Number field is a numeric field that allows you to "group" selected resources together by number. It is frequently used to "group" materials with a particular person. For instance, if an employee needs a special certification to work with specific chemicals. It can also be used to "group" people with a piece of equipment. For instance, if an employer wants to track how many how many hours an employee has operated a certain piece of equipment.

  5. The Units fields allows you to enter how much of the resource was used, whether it is the number of hours, feet, etc. By documenting resource quantities, you will be able to accurately reorder resources and calculated your expenditures. Use the Estimated field if you are estimating resource units.
  6. If you select an employee as a resource, the Norm, Regular, and Overtime (OT) fields will be enabled. The 'Norm' field allows you to enter any hour type including regular time, overtime, holiday hours, vacation hours, or any other type of specialty hours. If you enter data in the Norm field, the Time Cost field will be enabled. The Time Cost field is where you can specify if the specialty hours were billed as regular or overtime.
  7. Click to save the record.
  8. Click to close the window.
